Alakaina Family of Companies is Hiring a System Administrator/Database administration support Near San Antonio, TX

The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) has a need for a System Administrator/Data base Administration Support to support our government customer located in San Antonio, TX.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide Database and computer administrator support of Joint Trauma System databases and associated database interfaces capabilities, to include installing and maintaining all Network connectivity clients for workstations requiring Oracle or other database access.
  • Provide technical database support for a multitude of database and operating environments to include, but not limited to: Oracle RDBMS, Application Server, Portals, and Oracle InterMedia; Interbase; MYHSQL, Microsoft SQL server, and TOAD.
  • Maintains database information security and integrity, including applying security patches, verifying, and managing storage, maintaining database accounts, and performing database backups and recovery in case of problems.
  • Resolve Oracle database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data issues. Develops performance tuning techniques to ensure the Oracle Database Server operates efficiently and accurately.
  • Design new database tables, procedures, and techniques to ensure database grows in a scalable manner.
  • Install and configure Oracle and SQL Server in hosted and enterprise environments.
  • Coordinate complex queries with the researchers and data extractors/miners utilizing PF/SQL, Java, TOAD, Oracle Discoverer, and other query tools to provide complex datasets for research analysis.
  • Develop database applications in concert with the database processing needs for clinical and research requirements utilizing complex query and other programming toolsets.
  • Support data mining and integration requirement with a number of COTS and in-house developed systems including Collector, DoDTR, JTTR, ICDB, and RIDB, as well as legacy applications such as Mercury and Pre-Hospital Trauma Registry.
  • Run multiple monitors and systems to check their accuracy and workability, as well as troubleshoot any errors found.
  • Manage backup and recovery routines.
  • Trouble shoot individual patient database records and recover data as needed.
  • Add validated new users, delete departed users, and ensure all users have current HIPAA and Cyber Awareness training documentation on file. Assist with password resets as needed.
  • Work closely with the ISSM, GIO and DoDTR Vendor (currently ESO, Inc) to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science (or related degree) or equivalent work-related experience.
  • Must have the following certifications: Sec , Oracle SQL.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have 5-7 successful years as a DBA in an Oracle/Unix/Linux environment.
  • Must have documented work experience in Oracle 19c (or latest version) in a LINUX environment, the Oracle 19c tool sets, Visual Basic, Microsoft SQL, SQL Loader, SQL Query, Oracle Discoverer, Portals, and Oracle InterMedia; Interbase; and MYSQL (or the latest versions of these).
  • Must have documented work experience with database organization and design, table structures and schema, logical and physical design, reports and forms development, naming conventions and other issues related to systems planning and data migration.
  • Must have documented work experience with database information security and integrity, including applying security patches, verifying, and managing storage, maintaining database accounts, and performing database backups and recovery in case of problems.
  • Must have documented working experience with complex queries for database structures in the research/medical community and data extractors/miners utilizing PL/SQL, Java, TOAD, and other query tools to provide complex datasets for medical/clinical research analysis.
  • Must maintain the certification through the Continuing education program as required by the DoD Directive 8570.1 and Army and Navy regulations.
  • Willing to work some non-daytime hours to run queries and updates during periods of decreased usage of DoDTR.

  • Must be U.S. Citizen
  • Must have an active Secret clearance.
