Alabama State University is Hiring an Assistant basketball Near Montgomery, AL

Alabama State University, Intercollegiate Athletics, invites application for the position, Assistant Women's Basketball Coach / Player Development.

In accordance with the mission of the Department of Athletics, the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach will assist in administering the progress and success of the intercollegiate women’s Basketball program within the guidelines of the NCAA, the SWAC Conference, and Alabama State University.

This includes all pre-season, in-season, and post-season activities necessary to develop a nationally competitive team. As a Division I women's basketball player development coach, job duties include designing and implementing individualized training programs, analyzing player performance, providing feedback and guidance, physically assisting and demonstrating skill development drills, collaborating with other coaches to enhance player development strategies, and staying updated on trends and techniques in basketball training.

In-game duties include tracking offensive sets and defensive coverages and analyzing overall game strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Assist with pre-season, in-season, and post-season activities as necessary for the development of a nationally competitive team.
  • Assist in coordinating all student-athlete’s evaluation, recruitment, preparation, and development; such evaluation and recruitment activities may include but are not limited to, identifying, contacting, and recruiting prospective student-athletes by phone, mail, and other forms of correspondence.
  • Provide input to the head coach on practice and / or game strategy.
  • Travel to various locations throughout the state of Alabama and across the country to meet and evaluate in person prospective student-athletes.
  • Assist in all aspects of the preparation and development of WBB athletes, such activities may include but are not limited to planning practice sessions, video analysis of performance, providing feedback, and encouraging positive performance.
  • Coordinate the operation of yearly camps and clinics on campus and assisting in the coordination of all team travel in a manner that reflects fiscally responsible University resource management.
  • Assist in alumni and community outreach events and all other events related to growing the Alabama State University Athletics bran.

such activities may include but are not limited to planning alumni events, engaging alumni and fans, attending other sporting events, and participating in community outreach events.

  • Collaborate with athletics academic staff to coordinate visits and obtain reports regarding the student's progress.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Bachelor’s Degree, Division 1 collegiate playing experience, demonstrated experience in working in a diverse urban and / or intercollegiate athletics environment, be proficient in Microsoft Office software programs, have working knowledge and practice related to relevant video and statistical analysis software, have strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines, have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, have a dedication to serving the Athletic Department, Alabama State University, and the student-athletes with the highest level of leadership, initiative, and integrity and have working knowledge of NCAA, Southwestern Athletic Conference, and University rules and regulations as they apply to intercollegiate athletics.

Must have a valid driver's license with an insurable driving record.

This position requires working evenings, weekends during the academic year and traveling during recruiting and with the team during the season.
