Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited educational institution.
Valid Alabama Teaching Certificate in the area of instructional responsibility.
Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama Statutes and State Board of Education regulations.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Assess student abilities as related to desired educational goals, objectives and student outcome.
Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
Plan class activities and lesson presentations that are age-appropriate for the class and meet the individual needs, interests and ability levels of all students.
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a classroom climate conducive to learning.
Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and resolving learning problems.
Maintain professional competence and continuous improvement through in-service education and other professional growth activities as required or assigned.
Communicate to students and parents (either in writing or verbally) the instructional expectations, student progress or lack of progress.
Ensure confidentiality of all students' records, grades, performance and all other related matters.
Participate in school-level planning, faculty meetings/committees and other school system groups.
Establish and maintain a professional level of rapport with other teachers, team leaders, department heads, district-level coordinators and/or program directors, and instructional support and service employees of the school district.
Demonstrate a positive and technically competent set of parent/community relations' skills including oral communication, written communications, and listening skills in group and one-on-one situations as necessary.
Fulfill professional responsibilities beyond those exhibited in the classroom, such as school and district program improvement efforts, participation in community and parent groups, abide by and promote high ethical standards, etc.
Model appropriate personal characteristics and work habits that are consistent with personal development goals established for students.
Establish and maintain effective, professional relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and community members.
