CHILD NUTRITION PROGRAM ASSISTANT MANAGER

JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Child Nutrition Program Assistant Manager

SUPERVISES: N/A

JOB GOAL:To provide each student and faculty member with food of high nutritious quality in an atmosphere of cleanliness, cheerfulness, and personal caring.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Possess High School Diploma or equivalent.

2. Verified successful experience in food preparation and serving.

3. Demonstrates aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.

4. Such alternative to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

5. Must be able to lift 30 pounds.

REPORTS TO: Child Nutrition Program Manager/School Principal/Child Nutrition Program Coordinator/Supervisor

SALARY: To be determined commensurate with local salary matrix, credentials, and experience.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists Child Nutrition Program Manager in the planning, assigning, directing, and supervising of local CNP workers.
  • Assists CNP Manager in the preparation and serving of food.
  • Assists CNP Manager as directed in all aspects of food service work.
  • Assumes total responsibility for the food service operation in the absence of the CNP Manager.
  • Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the daily operation of a comprehensive children’s education program.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage the administrative duties of a large program.
  • Experience with computer data collection, word processing and a variety of software programs.
  • Knowledge of student growth and development applicable to the age group.
  • Support the program’s mission, goals and organizational structure.
  • Familiarity with all Federal, State and local laws, policies, procedures and regulations that are applicable to the program.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs.
  • Ability to engage in continuous learning and deliver training to children and adults.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationship with students, parents and peers.
  • Skilled and effective in oral and written communication.
  • Excellent human relations skills.
  • Must be a licensed insurable driver with access to an operable automobile.
  • Must be licensed or certified as a social worker.
  • Ability to manage the total program in the absence of the Director as required.
  • Ability to engage in cooperative planning management and implementation of program expansion.
  • Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work and move about as needed in a fast-paced, high-intensive work environment.
  • Attends training required by the program.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Working knowledge of quantity food preparation, sanitation principles, menu planning, inventory control, record keeping and production schedules. Previous experience in food service management. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing,
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

Nine months. Other contract terms and salary to be established by the Board.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s Policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
