Alabama State Department of Education is Hiring an ART TEACHER Near Opelika, AL

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education
  • Must hold an appropriate Alabama Professional Educator Certificate
  • Must meet the suitability criteria for employment as required by the Alabama
  • Child Protection Act of 1999 and ACT No. 2002-457

REPORTS TO: Principal

ANNUAL CALENDAR DAYS: 187 (9 Months)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to successfully work with small intervention groups.
  • Determine individual and class needs.
  • Establish objectives and plans learning experience.
  • Implement activities using a variety of techniques that utilize instructional time to meet objectives.
  • Place students at the proper instructional level in each subject area using available materials, information, and suggested methods. Assume responsibility of knowing the content of all instructional and administrative guides, position papers, and instructional policies. Instructional activities will be consistent with the content of the guides.
  • Assume complete responsibility for the instructional activities, motivation, and progress of each student assigned for instruction.
  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.
  • Provide a climate conducive to the development of positive self-concepts by students.
  • Assume responsibility for accurately reporting and monitoring student attendance and progress through the established process including conferences with parents.
  • Plan with team members for the collecting and reporting of money from fees, insurance, school pictures, lunches and other monies designated by the principal. Students may not be required to pay any fee or to buy school items that are not on the designated list.
  • Utilize planning time efficiently and effectively.
  • Assume responsibility for keeping classroom neat and orderly. Assume joint responsibility with other faculty members for the appearance of the building and grounds.
  • Assume responsibility for and maintain an inventory of all materials and equipment assigned and/or checked out to the teacher.
  • Engage in personal professional growth and demonstrate professional ethics and leadership.
  • Exhibit positive human relation skills in maintaining good rapport with all school personnel, parents and students. Maintain positive, professional attitude toward students, school programs, personnel and confidential information.
  • Plan for and conduct state testing programs according to established procedures.
    • Orient students.
    • Prepare answer sheets and identifying materials.
    • Administer tests according to instructions.
    • Collect answer sheets and organize with identifying materials.
    • Collect and return books to proper place.
  • Adhere to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policy and state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Attend and participate regularly in faculty meetings.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in written and oral communications.
  • Assist in interpreting instructional programs to the public.
  • Perform other related duties during school necessary to the safe and effective operation of the school when requested by the principal.
