SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Roll Operator places a steel plate into lifting clamps and utilizes lifting chains and an overhead crane to position the plate into a rolling machine. The operator utilizes a control panel to operate the machine, which rolls the steel plate in order to flatten or shape it depending on the job requirements.

The above description is general in nature. A welder may be required to perform additional duties not specifically described herein.

Essential job duties include:

• Read work instructions to obtain production information.
• Operate crane to load, unload, and position plate on roll machine.
• Operate control panel and monitor plate to achieve the desired end product. 
• Roll product within specified tolerance on drawing or standard flatness for the given plate.
• Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the Team Leader or member of the Management Team.
• Complete job requirements with minimal supervision.
• Accurately document applicable job, product, and quality information utilizing computer and paper documents as required.
• Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
• Adhere to all safety requirements and protocols.
• Perform preventative maintenance on machines as required/requested.
• Focus on quality and speed, performing all tasks with a sense of urgency toward excellence.
• Other duties as assigned by the Team Leader and Management Team.

Requirements

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 5-10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily demonstrate the following:

• Has knowledge and understanding of metal forming machines, setups, setting tool offsets, and work offsets
• Experience with complex, tight tolerance parts and various materials.
• Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods
• Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
• Adjusting, moving, transporting, installing, positioning, or removing objects up to 50 pounds in all directions
• Communicating with others to exchange information
• Operating motor vehicles, heavy equipment, or machinery
• Use hand tools
• Repetitive assembly operations of manufacturing test fixtures and test setups in collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams

• Develop the required training to ensure the workforce is equipped for success
• Collaborate between company employees, contractors, and clients to assess and control the risks associated with planned and ongoing work
• Maintain an objective measurement system for ongoing evaluation to assess HSEQ performance and our processes to constantly improve and establish best practices
