The Akron Board of Education announces an opening for a Technology Trainer- Sofware Support, Job Code 436, Time Schedule 522 (260 days). Salary TBD. Collective Bargaining Unit – none. This is a School Employees Retirement System position.

Position Summary: The position of Technology Trainer-Software Support is responsible for coordinating with school administrators, counselors, teacher, and support staff to provide comprehensive training and support in various technological systems and applications. The Trainer will ensure that all stakeholders are proficient in using technology to facilitate learning, scheduling, data analysis, and communication within the school district. Duties and responsibilities must be performed in order to maintain compliance with federal, state, local and District guidelines and regulations.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions: The following duties are respresentative of performance expectations. A reasonable accommodation may be made to enable a qualified individual with a disability to perform essential functions.

  • Provide training and technical support for eSchool applications to principals, counselors and administrators.
  • Create, implement and revise training materials as needed.
  • Provide guidance and support for utilization of eSchool NEWS for all interim and marking period updates.
  • Organize and monitor all scheduling through Google Classrooms.
  • Assist buildings with the development and implementation of the master schedules. Provide revisions and updates as needed.
  • Provide training for staff using data analysis tools for educational support and reform.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs making adjustments as may be necessary.
  • Develop and offer specialized training for identified areas and functions including Special Education, Gifted Programs, and Mark Reporting.
  • Assist with resolution of identified scheduling and reporting errors.
  • Conduct weekly reconciliation of scheduling and mark reporting errors.
  • Review and ensure accuracy of course codes and staff assignments.
  • Support teaching staff, parents/guardians with HAC and TAC applications.
  • Review HelpDesk tickets and provide technical support to resolve issues related to technology use.
  • Create and implement training videos as needed using applications and tools such as Camtasia.
  • Review and manage content on District-specific platforms.
  • Reports to Coordinator, Technology Services.


Budget:

  • Ensures that programs are cost effective and that funds are managed prudently.
  • Responsible to obtain prior authorization for all purchases.
  • Participate in departmental and organizational budget discussions, recommendations, etc.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Four year degree in a technology-related field or a two year degree in a non-related field plus experience with technology or an equivalent combination or education and experience.
  • Valid Ohio driver's license.
  • Prior experience in a technical support role.
  • Excellent, written, oral, and interpersonal skills, ability to develop and cultivate relationships; and
  • Sensitivity to a multicultural/multiethnic learning environment
  • Proven experience in training, education technology, or a related field.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience working within a K-12 school district setting

  • Uses computers, office equipment, cameras, etc.

  • Must be able to lift, move and transfer at least 20 pounds.
