The Traffic Department at AKRF is seeking a Senior Technical Director to be based out of Stamford, CT office. This individual will oversee the development and execution of comprehensive traffic strategies, ensuring the smooth traffic flow while prioritizing safety, sustainability, and efficiency for both our municipal and private sector clients. The potential candidate will have the opportunity to work in an environment of encouragement and collaboration to help AKRF shape the future of the region.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Participate in business development, client marketing, the preparation of proposals and making presentations
  • Manage significant projects and manage and oversee technical staff and their development
  • Prepare project deliverables including construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports
  • Provide oversight and technical quality control of deliverables (technical studies, plans, specifications, & estimates) produced
  • Ensure compliance with firms QA / QC process and perform QC personally as needed
  • Work with managers, project managers and technical staff throughout the company as necessary to support multi-disciplinary projects
  • Provide technical analysis for a wide range of transportation infrastructure and land development project
  • Perform traffic impact studies including data collection and intersection/highway capacity analysis using HCS, Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM and other traffic engineering analysis software
  • Knowledge of traffic engineering tools, including Highway Capacity Manual/Highway Capacity Software, Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM/VISUM, and other equivalent modeling and analysis
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and standards governing traffic management operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainability of traffic services
  • Management and mentoring of staff

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) or Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
  • 10-15 years’ experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license with a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification preferred
  • Proficiency in traffic studies, recommendations, and design with strong report writing skills
  • Experience with intersections and signals
  • Conducting traffic studies, providing recommendations, and designing traffic systems
  • Writing detailed reports on project findings and recommendations

Compensation will range from $140K to $165K, and commensurate with experience.
