Akiba Yavneh Academy
is a Modern Orthodox, co-ed, early childhood through 12th grade college-preparatory school dedicated to providing an academically excellent and values-based General and Judaic education to Jewish students of all backgrounds to inspire a lifelong love of Torah, higher learning, and the State of Israel. Although the school began sixty years ago, AYA is completing the first year of a major transformation to radically improve education outcomes and cost efficiency. In many ways, AYA will be a new school with a new model that seeks to set the standard for excellence and affordability in Jewish day school education.

AYA is seeking a year-round Personalized Learning Coach who will provide instructional support and coaching related to leveraging blended and project-based learning to personalize learning opportunities for students. This position will serve as the instructional leader for K-8 general studies curriculum and will directly support K-8 general studies teachers as they transition from a traditional instructional model to personalized learning.

This is an opportunity to be a part of a major transformation that aims to better support teachers as well as ensure students are receiving one-size-fits-one instruction. This work has the potential to impact the larger field of Jewish day school and innovation in K-12 education.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

Student advocate | Advocate for students’ academic and social-emotional needs within the school community.

Personalized Learning Leader | Has a deep understanding of personalized learning, blended learning, and project-based learning and understands the necessary shifts that take place when moving towards models.

Coaching and Mentoring | Strong coaching and mentoring to support teachers implementing personalized learning practices. This includes active listening, providing targeted observation and feedback, and fostering a growth mindset.

Data Analysis | Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data related to student learning outcomes and support teachers in making data-informed decisions.

Professional Development | Ability to design and facilitate experiential learning opportunities for staff to learn in blended and project-based professional learning.

Curriculum Expert | Has a deep understanding of Common Core standards and has the expertise to modify curriculum materials and resources to accommodate blended and project-based learning.

Collaboration and Teamwork | Work collaborative with the campus leadership team and other staff to create a cohesive learning environment that promotes student-centered systems.

Entrepreneurial |Brings new ideas to the team and acts on executing those ideas.

Resource Management | Identifies and integrates appropriate educational technologies, tools, and resources that support personalized learning.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Belief in and commitment to personalized learning
  • Holds a continuous improvement mindset
  • Proactively tackles problems with a sense of possibility and generates innovative solutions to ensure desired results are achieved
  • At least five years of teaching experience, instructional support, or campus-based administration is required
  • At least three years of direct experience with personalized learning is preferred


SALARY & BENEFITS:

  • Salary range: ~$90,000, commensurate with experience
