AKG's High Horsepower & Systems Engineering Team is seeking a hands-on engineer with a Mechanical Engineering background to support our growing business. In this role, the engineer will provide technical support and guidance for new product development and existing product improvements within AKG’s large power generation cooling system product lines that supports data centers and other critical infrastructure for some of the world's top tech companies and healthcare facilities.

This position represents the first or entry level of qualification for AKG in supporting primarily technical and some commercial requirements for customers in High Horsepower markets for aluminum cooling systems and supporting cooling system components. The successful, outgoing individual must be able to grow in competency for a majority of the essential functions listed below along with the potential to satisfy most of the below listed areas of supporting knowledge, skills and abilities.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Have demonstrated knowledge in development of heat transfer or other systems including design calculations, reliability predictions, design principles, systems engineering, and understanding of manufacturing environment.
• High mechanical aptitude
• A keen interest in “hands-on” engineering and problem solving
• Has aptitude to support customer relationships in written and/or oral form such as mutually agreed upon written technical customer specifications.
• Able to support AKG during routine external customer visits and presentation of technical data.
• Good oral and written communication skills and competent with industry known computer software such Microsoft Office, SolidWorks, SolidEdge, etcetera.
• Well organized individual who knows how to set up and manage projects and demonstrates the ability to adhere to and improve processes.

Essential Functions:

• Identify and manage product improvement and development activities for new and existing High Horsepower cooling system product lines
• Create product specific technical content for cooling system product lines that can be communicated to customers and internal manufacturing teams

• Assist with producing marketing materials for High Horsepower product lines
• Interface with High Horsepower Manufacturing & Design teams for product and process improvements
• Maintain a high degree of product and application knowledge.
• Assist with defining assembly testing methods and documentation standards for HHP & Systems products
• Familiar with industry standards

• Support business relationship between external customers and AKG by participating with on-site customer visits and regular collaboration.
• Prepare technical results and assist with technical presentations/proposals to be shared with internal engineering teams and customers
• Assist AKG with introduction of new products and technologies within assigned markets.
• Assist in the gathering of customer, market and competitor technology that will further AKG through customer visits and trade show attendance
• Assist in maintenance of well documented project files, both written and on-line, that can be easily accessed by other AKG personnel.
• Individual must be comfortable in expressing himself/herself in an external role and make presentations in front of appropriate audience.

Additional Experience (Preferred)

• Basic understanding of internal combustion engines
• Working knowledge of basic hand tools
• Water Pumps, Fans, Bearings/Drive Systems, Sheet metal, AC Motors
• Technical product support experience
