Akebono Brake Corporation is Hiring a Health, Safety & Environmental Manager Near Elizabethtown, KY

Purpose/Summary

Leads and coordinates activities of Health, Safety & Environmental to meet organizational objectives for entire facility.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Responsibilities shall include but not limited to:

  • Federal, state and local environmental compliance and reporting.
  • Preparation of internal environmental and safety reports.
  • Periodic environmental and safety plant audits.
  • Waste disposal procedures including sampling.
  • Participate and periodically lead investigation of accidents and prepares reports.
  • Leads ISO 14001 activities and heads waste minimization program.
  • Provides guidance and acts as "Safety & Environmental Advisor" to other facilities within ABC.
  • Participate and report in monthly HS&E Corporate meeting.
  • Participate on daily, weekly & monthly management meeting.
  • Maintains safety and environmental records, designs and assists in safety and environmental training,
  • Supports Akebono's Quality System and Loss Control/Safety Programs through active involvement.
  • Identifies training needs specific to the ISO 14001 management system.
  • Develop and maintain departmental spending budget

Education and/or Experience (minimum required for the position)

  • Four year Technical degree
  • Minimum of 4 years progressive experience in Safety & Environmental within a manufacturing setting.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Working knowledge with federal, state and local environmental and safety regulations, mechanical and, or chemical aptitude, attention to detail and thoroughness, proactive nature in the area of safety and waste minimization, ability to remain abreast of current regulations.
  • Ability to share resources and lead improvement throughout the facility.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has direct supervisory experience. It will provide the team with direction and guidance to ensure projects are prioritized and planning processes provided are in place to ensure project deadlines are achieved. This includes selecting and hiring associates, training and evaluating associates to enhance performance, development and work product, as well as, addressing performance issues and making recommendations for personnel actions.

Physical Demands/Environment

This position requires the following physical abilities: to sit; to use hands (to finger, handle, or feel), to reach with hands and arms, to stand, to talk, to hear and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. In addition, the specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The work environment is mostly sedentary; however, there is occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts and vibration and to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
