Job Title: Manufacturing Management Intern

FLSA Status: Exempt

Division: Manufacturing

EEOC Classification: Professionals

Reports to: Manufacturing Management

Summary:

The main objective of this position is to contribute to the overall profitability of the organization through several activities and downtime reduction utilizing tools and methods of the Toyota Production System. These activities can be, but are not limited to, activities such as equipment improvements to increase productivity, labor reduction activities, process and material flow improvements, and energy consumption reduction. This person will be expected to support facility expansion projects and preparations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safety Minded
  • Well versed in all microsoft office applications including Access
  • Excellent communication skills- both oral and written such as email, and proven ability to work across multiple departments to complete objectives.
  • Very strong computer skills including experience/proficiency with computer programming and networking
  • General understanding of production processes and plant utilities
  • Experience with surface and through mount electronics
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills using TQM techniques and QC tools
  • Experience with parts and information flow throughout a manufacturing system
  • Define improvement ideas and present to various levels of management
  • CAD experience a plus
  • Participate in Cross Functional Teams as assigned
  • Support other departments as needed
  • Support Hoshin Kanri Activity.
  • Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
  • Will perform other reasonably related tasks within the company as required by the supervisor or management.

Qualifications, Education & Experience Required

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Current student in related technical field.

Work Environment

  • Some dust, noise, oils, greases, grinding debris, compressed air, metal shavings, propane, solvents and occasional heavy lifting.
  • Exposed to hazardous machinery and/or conditions that could results in injury up to and including a fatality if safety measures are not followed and adhered to.
  • Exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, odors, fumes, oils. The performance of this position normally requires exposure to a typical manufacturing areas were under certain conditions that require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety shoes and safety glasses.
