Mission & Responsibilities:

  • Lead all activities related to Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) used in the Final Assembly Line (FAL) and all production lines.
  • Manage a team of MGSE and production mechanical technicians, ensuring high performance and adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Serve as the primary technical authority for MGSE and production mechanical issues, including the disposition of standard production anomalies and providing repair directions.
  • Coordinate with engineers and ensure proper implementation of off-nominal instructions on MGSE and mechanical flight hardware.
  • Implement changes in the FAL stemming from flight/ground design or process modifications, and oversee the improvement and maintenance of the FAL MGSE and production stations.
  • Provide expert advice and leadership for new programs assessing FAL workstations design, proposal, and processes.
  • Develop comprehensive familiarity and expertise with manufacturing processes, satellite configurations, and manufacturing requirements across all products and stations.

Managerial Responsibilities:

  • Define and manage team priorities, translating company objectives into team and individual goals with regular progress reviews and evaluations.
  • Anticipate team workload and adjust headcount as needed, ensuring understanding and adherence to job descriptions and expectations.
  • Liaise with Human Resources to set up development plans and support the team in professional growth and adherence to organizational processes.

Technical Responsibilities:

  • First level of FAL engineering support to manage and disposition production anomalies.
  • Coordinate with Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Design to Manufacture, and Flight Design Engineering for implementation of design and process changes, as well as non-conformance management.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and troubleshooting of the production stations and MGSE.
  • Support Production Quality Engineering, D2M and Manufacturing Engineering on work instruction reviews, Process Failure Mode Engineering Analysis (PFMEA), and First Article Inspections (FAI).
  • Identify process and design failure modes and propose corrective actions and solutions.

Your Profile:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing) or similar; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in a manufacturing environment, with significant leadership and team management experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise with MGSE and familiarity with spacecraft flight hardware handling and maintenance.
  • Experience working in a clean room environment and understanding of precision cleaning and handling of clean hardware/systems.
  • Strong organizational skills, able to plan and accomplish objectives while multitasking and prioritizing.
  • Proficiency in reviewing and understanding both written and electronic procedures and technical documents in English. Verbal French or Spanish is a plus.
  • Strong commitment to work, demonstrating flexibility, and self-discipline.

Physical Demand

The employee frequently is required to talk and hear. Based on the position an employee is occasionally required to stand for an extended period of time; walk; reach above shoulders; and stoop, kneel, bend, twist or crouch.
  • The employee must occasionally be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities require by this job include close vision.
