Air Wisconsin Airlines is Hiring a Corporate SMS Safety Risk Coordinator Near Appleton, WI

With general direction from the Director of Corporate Safety (DCS), the Corporate SMS Safety Risk Coordinator is responsible for daily management of the corporate-wide Safety Risk Management Program, SMS Investigation Program, and Operational Safety Boards as required by the Corporate Safety Management System (CSMS), 14 CFR Part 5 regulations and IATA IOSA Standards.

Job Functions:

Safety Risk Management (SRM) Program:

  • Promotes and fosters a safe and secure operating environment.
  • Responsible for daily functions, training, and guidance of the SRM Program.
  • Completes daily report review, timely processing, approval and risk acceptor response of all corporate-wide SRM submissions.
  • Schedules, coordinates and leads required Safety Risk Management Team (SRMT) meetings.
  • Creates and documents all risk assessment meeting agendas, presentations, hand-outs, and minutes.
  • Creates FAA and IOSA required annual initial and recurrent SRM training curriculum.
  • Provides annual initial and recurrent FAA and IOSA required SRM training to all company-wide stakeholders, risk acceptors and program participants.
  • Documents, tracks, and reports employee SRM training status, requirements, and deadlines.
  • Monitors and ensures all risk assessment outputs including corrective actions, recommendations and escalations are completed within the required timeframe.
  • Maintains the required comprehensive corporate hazard and risk registry.
  • Creates and distributes all SRM database and FAA and IOSA required reporting.
  • Assists Director of Corporate Safety in developing enhancements to the regulatorily required SRM system, process and procedures utilized by all corporate stakeholders in ensure regulatory compliance and IOSA conformance.
  • Develops updated CSMS manual SRM process and procedure guidance documentation required to meet increasing FAA regulatory requirements and IOSA standards.
  • Assists in development and management of new Risk Management Form utilized by all corporate-wide stakeholders and risk acceptors.

SMS Investigation Program:

  • Responsible for daily functions, training, and guidance of the SMS Investigation Program.
  • Opens Safety and Security Investigations as directed by the Vice President of Safety and Security and/or Director of Corporate Safety.
  • Daily management and timely scheduling of all SMS Investigation initial and follow-up meetings.
  • Schedules, coordinates, facilitates and documents SMS Investigation interviews and Learning Team activities.
  • Daily tracking of SMS Investigation progress to achieve regulatory required milestones.
  • Daily tracking and weekly reporting of regulatory noncompliance investigations status ensuring compliance with FAA VDRP program requirements.
  • Gathers, consolidates and organizes investigation evidence and documentation.
  • Daily management of the SMS Investigation database ensuring accuracy and currency of investigation documentation.
  • Coordinates with ASAP Program Manager regarding ASAP report, corrective action, and company recommendation interface and status with induvial investigations.
  • Creates FAA and IOSA required SMS enhanced annual initial and recurrent SMS Investigation training curriculum to include updated Human Performance and Organizational Performance factors analysis and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Provides annual initial and recurrent FAA and IOSA required SMS Investigation training to all company-wide stakeholders, risk acceptors and program participants.
  • Documents, tracks, and reports on employee SRM training status, requirements, and deadlines.
  • Assists Director of Corporate Safety in developing enhancements to the regulatorily required SMS Investigation process and procedures utilized by all corporate stakeholders to ensure effective operational risk management and regulatory compliance.
  • Assists in development of an enhanced CSMS manual SMS Investigation process and procedure guidance documentation required to meet increasing FAA regulatory requirements and IOSA standards.
  • Assists in development and management of new SMS Investigation Form utilized by all corporate-wide stakeholders and risk acceptors.

Operational Safety Boards:

  • Schedules all required Flight, Maintenance, and Joint Operational Safety Board monthly meetings.
  • Schedules all required Corporate Safety Review Board quarterly meetings.
  • Creates agendas and minutes for all OSB and CSRB meetings.
  • Tracks and documents all meeting agenda and action items to completion.
  • Creates Power Point presentations for each scheduled meeting.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Daily validation of reports to the Operational Event Reporting System.
  • Assists with the development of initial and continuous improvement of safety performance metrics and safety goals as required by the SMS.
  • Ensures proper disposition of all Safety Assurance documents, reports, records, analysis, and correspondence as required by FAA Part 5.
  • Emergency Response Team Member.
  • Safety On-call Team Member.

Required Competencies:

  • A high level of initiative and engagement in developing and coordinating implementation of safety management programs.
  • Ability to understand complex issues with multiple variables and identify solutions for improvements.
  • Judgment and initiative in setting priorities, meeting deadlines and maintaining program requirements.
  • Ability to recommend new policies and procedures to improve the value and efficiency within the Safety Management System.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English.

Education & Experience:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 years’ experience with a combination of the following: program management, project management, data mining, data analysis, trending, and data reporting.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, internet courseware development tools.
  • Strong analytical ability and logical aptitude to work with complex regulatory requirements.

Preferred:

  • 1-3 years’ experience in aviation safety management programs, aviation flight operations, or airline operations.
  • Experience in Lean, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement strategies.
  • Problem solving and the ability to act as an advocate for change.
  • Curriculum development, employee training.
  • Employee investigations.
  • Manual technical writing experience.
