Plant Operations Tech Roles and Responsibilities:
We are seeking a Plant Operations Tech at Corpus Christi ,Texas location.
As a Plant Operator, you will support our Steam Methane Reformer facility located in Corpus Christi, TX. The facility produces hydrogen and high pressure steam. You will be responsible for operating, maintaining and troubleshooting the equipment and facility.
The basic function of this role is to provide necessary technical and hands- on support to continuously improve plant operation, maintenance, mechanical equipment integrity, reliability, cost, and on-stream factor.
Required Skills / Abilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Participate in the basic safety process as a key member of the Site Safety committee and sharing responsibility for the site’s overall safety performance.
  • Provide day-to-day operation of the plant to support the plant on-stream, production and reliability targets.
  • Must be self-motivated to learn in a fast paced environment and progress to the control board operator within one year
  • Provide hands on support as required to resolve
  • Instrument/Electrical/Mechanical/Operational field problems as they occur.
  • Interact with staff personnel to maintain operation of plant; assist in plant equipment mechanical repairs, instrument calibrations and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Investigate equipment failures, determine root cause of failure, and recommend appropriate solutions to reduce reoccurrence of/or eliminate cause of failure.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and periodic review of preventative/predictive maintenance programs to reduce unplanned shutdowns and improve overall plant on-stream capability.
  • Maintain an error-free execution. Pay very close attention to details and execute work to the highest possible standard. Apply a Continuous Improvement philosophy to daily work.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of minor and major shutdowns. Provide technical and hands-on support as required for all shutdowns.
  • Provide troubleshooting expertise for the production units.
  • Follow Operating procedures.
  • Support other facilities in the area as required.
  • Promote safety rules and regulations.
Qualifications / Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Process Technology certificate or degree is a plus
  • Must be a self-starter and willing to work alone on nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Candidates with a background in pumps, mechanical seals, vessels, exchangers, gear drives, compressors, rotating equipment
  • Previous work history in industrial gas, refining, or petrochemical facilities
  • Relevant military experience/training
  • Ability to read/understand piping and instrumentation drawings
  • Basic computer proficiency and software knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Electrical, instrument or mechanical maintenance experience a plus
  • Ability to work rotating shifts (day and night shifts).
  • Willing to work holidays and weekends
  • Desire and ability to work in a team environment
Physical Requirements:
  • Climb ladders and steps
  • Lift at least 50 lbs
  • Look at and read a computer screen for several hours per shift
  • Meet call-in requirements, as needed
  • Occasionally work on elevated platforms (permanent and temporary)
  • Work in all weather conditions
Work Hours & Benefits:
Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, and participate in a mandatory on-call rotation.
