Air Force One is Hiring a HVAC Installer Near Norton, OH

Position Summary: The Commercial HVAC Installer will perform the duties normally required in the installation of HVAC systems. They may also be called upon to perform other duties normally required in the HVAC service trade.

Education and Experience: High school diploma or its equivalent. Apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. 4 – 6 years of experience in the field or in a related area, or completion of accredited HVAC school with an associate Degree.

Required Certificates, Licenses & Registrations: EPA Refrigerant handling certification required. OSHA certification a plus. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record and background check.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Possess basic leadership skills to use in training and mentoring other installers
  • Communication with customers on daily basis.
  • Install commercial HVAC systems and ductwork. This includes new installation and remodel/replacement of existing systems.
  • Install chillers and boilers and piping of these systems.
  • Work with a construction crew on all installations/remodels, and work within the construction schedules agreed upon.
  • Take responsibility for the accurate and timely completion of paperwork.
  • Provide maximum customer service and professional communication to all associates and customers.

Required Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have a complete understanding of the refrigerant cycle, and have a basic electrical knowledge. Must be able to work from plans customary to the trades area, including the ability to understand electrical schematics as they pertain to HVAC systems. Technician must have superior skills in the operation of most basic power and hand tools common to the HVAC trade.
  • Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Troubleshooting — Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
  • Repairing — Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools.
  • Equipment Maintenance — Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Operation Monitoring — Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Quality Control Analysis — Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Operation and Control — Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
  • PO/return procedure
  • Ability to read a tape measure to 1/16”
  • Use of a plumb bob/level
  • Demonstrate Tick tracer
  • Driving stake-body (gates/lift gate)
  • Proper Loading Techniques
  • Safely use all required tools and equipment per manufacturer’s instructions and OSHA requirements
  • General knowledge of HVAC industry and practices
  • Universal E.P.A. Certification
  • Working knowledge of temperature/pressure chart
  • Read and interpret temp/pressure gauges for F and C and PSIG.
  • Know concepts of BTU/tonnage
  • Know nominal voltages (120/240v, 120/208v 3 phase, 277/460480v 3 phase)
  • Fall protection (use of harness, lanyard, retractable)
  • Properly fill out AFO workorder forms
  • Properly install flex and air devices
  • Demo procure (furnace, RTU, Boiler)
  • Scissor lift card
  • Tow motor card
  • Basic rigging methods- terms, components
  • Slip and drive sheet metal installation
  • Insulation/seam sealing

Physical Activities and Environment: The following physical activities described are representation of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions and expectations.

While performing the functions of this job, the employee is continuously required to use fine finger movements, read/comprehend, write, and reason and analyze. The associate is frequently required to bend, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, handle objects, push/pull, reach above shoulder level, stand, carry and lift loads over 50 pounds, perform calculations, and communicate orally. The associate is in frequent contact with chemicals/biological agents and water / other liquids. The noise level in the work environment is consistent with construction activities, and may be extreme at times.

Minimum Physical Requirements:

  • Be able to remove and replace a 24’ ladder on top of a service van.
  • Be able to place a 24’ ladder on the side of a building safely.
  • Be able to lift 50 lbs above their heads.
  • Be able to pull 30 lbs up the side of a building 20’ with a rope.
  • Be able to kneel down and sit down on the floor for 30 minutes.
  • Be able to bend down and reach your ankles.
  • Be able to work in a confined space for minimum of one hour.
  • Be able to carry 20 lbs. on back and go up a 24’ ladder.
