Air Force Civilian Career Training is Hiring an ACQUISITION PROGRAM MANAGER Near Maxwell, AL

The PALACE Acquire Program offers you a permanent position upon completion of your formal training plan. As a Palace Acquire Intern you will experience both personal and professional growth while dealing effectively and ethically with change, complexity, and problem solving. The program offers a 2-year formal training plan with yearly salary increases. Promotions and salary increases are based upon your successful performance and supervisory approval.

Qualifications:

To qualify for a GS-09: Completion of graduate level education or higher as provided in the 'General Policies and Instructions' for Qualifications Standards Operating Manual (see link below)

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level. Specialized experience is defined as knowledge of utilizing statistical techniques and developing mathematical models in order to define and analyze problems; and advising officials of different approaches as a basis for management plans and decisions.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) Requirement for General Schedule (GS) Positions: Applicants must have served at least 52 weeks at the GS-07 or higher grade (or equivalent in an alternate pay system) within the Federal Civil Service to be considered for referral. The purpose of TIG restrictions is to prevent excessively rapid promotions in competitive service GS positions and to protect competitive principles.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Knowledge of acquisition program management principles, techniques, requirements, methods and practices to carry out regular and recurring assignments in support of planning, organizing and managing weapon systems acquisition.

2. Basic knowledge of cost analysis and estimating policies, methods and techniques.

3. Analytical and evaluation skills to assess capability in meeting customer or project requirements.

4. Basic knowledge of resource allocation processes, terminology and concepts.

5. Oral and written communication skill.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Responsibilities:

- Participates in the planning, organizing, and coordination of projects/programs through designated phases of the acquisition cycle by performing routine and recurring program management work.
- Carries out special projects designed to facilitate the full use of the intern's training and development.
- Performs a variety of specific duties designed to develop knowledge and skill in applying cost analysis and cost estimating principles, methods and techniques to program management duties.
- Performs a variety of specific duties designed to develop knowledge and skill in applying budget formulation, presentation and/or execution techniques to program management duties.
