About the Position

The Technical Services Specialist is an entry level position within the Technical Services department responsible for working with the Sales team as a technical advisor and system design specialist for all systems offered by the company. Provides escalated technical support as required as well as product and technical training for company personnel and customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Works with Sales Support team to provide support both pre-sales and post-sales, with system design, programming, and integration support. This is primarily via phone, chat, and email, or online video conferencing.
  • Assist with product training for internal Aiphone employees, coordinated and planned with members of the Technical Services team. Training to include system design, integration, installation, programming, and troubleshooting of systems. Training venues to include in-office or video conference.
  • Assists Technical Writer with creating, updating, and reviewing documentation for products and their installation, programming, and use, including specification sheets, USP instruction manuals, and QuickStart guides. Also assists with reviewing and testing all documentation for technical accuracy as required.
  • Works closely with the Technical Support department to provide product training on new and existing systems (system design, integration, installation, programming, troubleshooting), and assist with escalations as directed.

Additional Responsibilities include the following.

  • Assists Engineering and Marketing departments as a technical consultant on product literature proofing and edits. Works with Marketing to support trade show booth product demonstration panels and technical materials.
  • Assists in the production of instructional "how-to" and feature/function product videos. May include various tasks including determining topics, scripting, and editing.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining product training presentations on new and existing products for use in seminars, webinars, and to be used by field Sales Managers for training that they perform for their customers.
  • Travels to trade shows to set up and tear down product displays, and represent Aiphone with technical product expertise in design, installation, and programming during events.
  • Backs up Technical Support team during departmental meetings, or in other critical situations. Manages escalated issues as assigned.
  • Assists with the design and maintenance of product demonstration kits to be used in the field.

Inter-relationship Relationship of position with internal, lateral, and external groups.

Interacts with co-workers as a team member. Work closely with Technical Support, Sales, Marketing, and Engineering.

The employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; balance; bend and reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Occasionally required to climb ladders, stand, stoop, kneel, squat, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. For the most part, ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment. Position may require occasional travel 5-10%.

Education and Related Experience:

  • Requires an associate degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
  • Requires strong technical background with minimum 1 year of Aiphone-specific technical support experience.
  • Network certification required.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of:

  • Excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills required. Must have strong problem-solving skills and communicate persuasively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint) with knowledge of standard CRM Database package and other software programs used within the company.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud (After Affects, Audition, Illustrator, InDesign, PhotoShop, Premiere Pro), Camtasia, and Visio is preferred.
  • Steady paced, able to work consistently with many distractions. Must be able to work within a team and independently. Must be able to maintain an organized schedule with competing priorities, executing plans within scheduled deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking ability with a high degree of accuracy Must have strong problem-solving skills and communicate persuasively.
  • Acts in ethical and professional manner at all times with colleagues, customers, and vendors, representing the highest standards of Aiphone behavior.
