Aim High Academy of Martial Arts is Hiring a Martial Arts Instructor Near Beaverton, OR

Aim High Academy of Martial Arts (AHAMA) are is part of a larger nonprofit organization, known as Aim High PDX, dedicated to providing resources to youth and families in the greater Portland area. AHAMA is dedicated to teaching youth respect for themselves and others, kindness, confidence, self-discipline, self-defense, and so much more. AHAMA offers a variety of programs for ages 4 and up. Programs offered include: Mixed Martial Arts, Tae Kwon Do, Tang Soo Do, and Kickboxing. Our operating hours are Monday-Thursday between 11:00am and 9:00pm and Saturdays between 8:00am and 2:00pm.

We are looking for an individual dedicated to improving the lives of others through Martial Arts. This person must be enthusiastic about working with children ages 4-8.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2nd Degree Black Belt or higher with 1 year of teaching experience OR
  • 1st Degree Black Belt or lower with 3 years teaching experience, or equivalent level of experience in coaching athletics
  • First Aid/CPR certifications
  • Instructing experience

Position Requirements & Duties

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Encourage students to maintain regular class attendance and practice at home
  • Maintain a high level of enthusiasm and positivity when teaching
  • Ensure that each student receives appropriate attention and feedback
  • Encourage students to work towards their Black Belt
  • Treat all students with respect and dignity
  • Participate in AHAMA special events
  • Conduct intro lessons for prospective students when needed
  • Engage with student families
  • Attend satellite classes (off-site teachings) when necessary
  • Understand different program curriculums and how to teach them effectively and creatively
  • Ability to adapt lessons for different ages & abilities
  • Maintain records on student testing requirements and belt advancement
  • Maintain your personal training and continued learning
  • Attend staff meetings and respond to emails
  • Maintain knowledge of AHAMA history, teachings, policies, and procedures
  • Maintain knowledge of current industry standards and updated methods of teaching
  • Maintain a positive attitude
  • Maintain academy cleanliness and organization
  • Performs various other duties and assignments as necessary or required.
  • Create daily class plans based on belt-specific curriculum

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $17.00 - $25.00 per hour
