AHS - Sherman Medical Center is Hiring a CT/XRay Tech- part time or PRN nights Near Sherman, TX

JOB SUMMARY: The CT Technologist operates computed tomography equipment to produce CT images of designated portions of the body under the direction of a radiologist. Prepares CT equipment and maintains supplies and required documentation. Understands the technical factors and can select the factors that produce consistently high quality images. Demonstrates knowledge of methods used for radiation dose reduction. Works with patients of all ages including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. Thursday- Sunday nights.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. Current and valid license required from Texas Medical Board.

2. Certificate or diploma from accredited school of Radiologic Technology required.

3. Current BLS certificate required.

4. Previous radiology experience preferred.

5. CT registered or registry eligible by the ARRT preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Consistently uses two patient identifiers when performing procedures.

Regulates patient schedules and flow patterns to insure prompt, safe, and efficient care of the patient. Enters proper procedure orders and supply charges on all patients.

Safely and accurately administers contrast agents. Consistently follows medication reconciliation policy.

Understands the functions of various computer systems within the radiology department and appropriate downtime procedures. Knows process of whom to call during system failures. Calls for service on equipment as needed.

Is in compliance with information contained in the Infection Manual (i.e. OSHA blood borne pathogen standards, CDC Guidelines), and demonstrates appropriate use of personal protective equipment (i.e. gloves, gowns, masks, goggles) and good hand washing techniques.

Utilizes standards suggested to reduce patient dose for both pediatric and adult patients as much as possible while still producing quality images.

Cleans and disinfects room and equipment and prepares room, equipment, and materials for patients as needed for various procedures. Maintains necessary room stock for studies. Responsible for ordering stock and supplies as needed.

Assists physicians with special tests and procedures. Follows proper protocol and procedures for site marking, informed consent, and time out.

Avoids and prevents injury to self and patients by applying the principles of body mechanics. Maintains a safe environment, functioning with an awareness and application of safety issues identified within the unit/facility.

Participates in quality improvement processes and teams. Prepares reports, documents, statistics, and other data as required. Assists in planning for new equipment and services. Assist with training and orientation. Participates in the budget preparation and handles patient and physician complaints.

Provides efficient and prompt care in a courteous and professional manner and observes patient confidentiality at all times.

Recognizes signs of abuse and reports appropriately to the Adult Protective Services.

Responsible for the safety and welfare of patients while in the department. Understands and is prepared for patient emergencies.

Observes patient and equipment during procedures and understands proper procedure for reporting unusual occurrences or equipment failure.

Establishes priorities of patient care based on essential needs and available resources of time, equipment, personnel, and supplies.

Attends mandatory departmental and organizational meetings.

Follows the job description duties for Radiologic Technologist.

Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Documents all medication reactions/infiltrations on appropriate forms.
