Labor & Delivery Technician assists with the patient care tasks as well as maintaining the equipment and supplies used in Labor & Delivery. Technician also scrubs for C-Sections and deliveries as well as maintaining skills in computer order entry. Anticipates and orders required supplies and equipment in Labor and Delivery. Stocks all Labor rooms and LDRs in advance.
Prepares and passes instruments, sutures, and supplies needed in the operative procedure using principles of aseptic technique. Ensures specimens are correctly collected, labeled, and delivered to the appropriate department. Assists in safely transporting patients.
Completion of recognized training course for Surgical Technician (military or civilian). Current Basic Life Support Level C (Healthcare Provider) certification. One year experience as a Labor & Delivery technician in an acute care setting. Demonstrated ability to scrub procedures in all specialty areas as well as to provide training for other technicians.
