As a Helper, your focus is to perform a series of tasks to assist the rewinding and packaging departments by handling material, periodically operating machinery, packaging, labeling, verifying slit width, and assisting with the quality control of specialty paper rolls. You will coordinate activities in your area of responsibility to ensure a cost efficient operation while meeting established quality/continuous improvement standards and adhering to the company environmental, health and safety policies.

You will work 12-hour shifts (6:00 - 6:00), rotating from day shift to night shift on a 4x4 rotation (four days on, 4 days off, 4 nights on, 4 nights off).

Main Responsibilities:

• Work with the Operator on the rewinder to support operation of the machine
• Set up and safely operate converting equipment
• Assist in completing packages for shipment
• Inspect and pack finished product
• Operate overhead cranes and hoists following all safety procedures
• Operate a fork lift to transport product safely
• Maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment

Education, Technical Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements:

• 1 years’ experience in manufacturing preferred
• Forklift experience preferred
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to safely perform a multitude of tasks simultaneously
• Ability to cover vacation and sick time

Physical Demands:

• The employee must possess the ability to see, hear, talk, sit, stand, walk, and use fingers to manipulate controls.
• The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
• The employee is frequently required to bend, stoop, and lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• The employee must be able to walk and stand on a variation of surfaces.
• The employee must have the ability to work in a hot or cold environment, indoors and outdoors, in a manufacturing production setting, with exposure to working near moving mechanical parts, and at heights.
