Position Summary

The Field Crew Supervisor is a professional, disciplined, motivated, and experienced agricultural leader that oversees daily operations of multiple work crews performing maintenance and harvest of various vegetable crops at client ranches. The Field Crew Supervisor is responsible for: scheduling, performance, compliance, and safety of assigned forepersons and crews, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of required information to office, and interacting with customers to coordinate work and ensure their satisfaction. This position reports to the Field Operations Manager. The position is based in the Salinas, California area and may require seasonal relocation and/or travel to Arizona, Colorado, Mexico, or other locations.

Responsibilities

· Supervise and direct the activities of multiple agricultural work crews engaged in various farming tasks on client ranches including but not limited to harvesting, cultural practices, food safety support, and ranch maintenance.

· Guide and support forepersons and crews in basic agronomy and crop activities to ensure work is done to client expectations.

· Communicate and coordinate daily with client representatives such as forepersons, forecasters, or coordinators to ensure excellent customer service. Submit information about timekeeping, productivity, and other metrics as required using various forms and technological systems.

· Manage scheduling, job assignment, and performance of crews. Responsible for quality of work and efficiency with time and materials.

· Responsible for crew safety, time and attendance, job assignments, and compliance with all instructions, rules, and SOPs.

· Responsible for the crew compliance with quality control, food safety, and other audit requirements.

· Collaborate closely with the Field Operations Manager and Director of Human Resources, Safety, and Training on hiring, progressive discipline, performance evaluations, promotions, bonuses, terminations, incident / injury reports, and all other Human Resource related matters.

· Operate independently and professionally in remote settings with limited direct supervision.

· Enforce company rules, policies, and procedures and compliance with state, federal, and local laws.

· Represent AgSocio professionally and with high integrity to all team members, customers, and other stakeholders.

Physical Demands

Ability to lift and/or carry light weight (up to 50 pounds), regularly sit, stand, walk, drive, reach, repetitive hand motions, arm movement above and at shoulder level. Hear, speak, maintain visual acuity, may experience prolonged and irregular work hours, and work with frequent interruptions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

Outdoor and indoor environment with good working conditions. Loud to moderate noises. Regularly exposed to natural environmental elements. Walking on uneven ground. Working around machinery (tractors and trucks).

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent/GED preferred but not required

Experience: Preferredthree (3) years agricultural work experience in a supervisory position. Experience in Leafy Greens crops preferred. Technical knowledge and communication skills to supervise a seasonal workforce on all aspects of crop production. Preferred proficiency in the setup, operation, and basic maintenance of agricultural equipment. Ability to work a flexible schedule as determined by crop conditions and client requirements. Ability to read and understand written instructions from clients, regulators, or management. Ability to use a computer, tablet, and smartphone for multiple purposes including time keeping, record keeping, reporting, and communications.

Other requirements: Must be able to obtain and maintain US DOL Farm Labor Contractor Employee license (FLCE) with Driver Authorization. Must be fluent in Spanish and be able to read and speak English preferred but not required. Must have a valid US driver’s license.
