Job Title: Assembly Technician

The Agrology team is seeking a dynamic Assembly Technician that will assume ownership of final assembly, testing, and provisioning for Agrology’s suite of environmental monitoring and sensing devices.

About you

You are passionate about solving complex problems while assisting in the deployment of high-quality IoT products. The Assembly Technician will work directly with Engineers to produce electromechanical assemblies, conduct quality checks and inspections, and document assembly processes. We are looking for a creative technician who can bring ideas, solve challenges, and help drive our products into production on schedule, at cost targets, and with great quality.

About the Role

This role is ideal for an early to mid-career Assembly Technician who has comprehensive experience performing hands-on electromechanical device assembly. Your role will encompass the following key areas:

  • Full ownership of IoT device system level functional testing and provisioning
  • Performing assembly for new inventory and organizing shipments to customer sites
  • Executing QA/QC inspections
  • Troubleshooting and refurbishing field failures and returned units
  • Drafting and updating assembly work instructions and ancillary documentation as required
  • Managing and organizing warehouse inventory

Knowledge, Skills, & Experience

Required competencies

  • Minimum high school/GED with technical school background preferred
  • 3 years of experience with electromechanical assembly
  • 3 years of soldering experience (through hole and SMD)
  • Knowledge of basic electrical lab equipment including multi-meters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and work instructions
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work on site in Alexandria, VA

Other desired skills

  • Technical writing skills to aid in documentation review and completion of work instructions and assembly documentation
  • Experience with Google Workspace including Docs, Sheets, and Slides
  • IPC610 certification/endorsement
  • Basic knowledge of hardware is strongly preferred, including previous experience with board level bring-up, debug, and troubleshooting

The successful candidate must have a general ability to:

  • Learn about our products, technology, and industry processes
  • Ability to work autonomously and exercise sound judgment
  • Create new building blocks, tools, and repeatable processes for others to follow

Location & Travel

  • Location: Alexandria, VA (On-Site)
  • Travel: < 5%
  • Desired Commitment: Full-time (hourly), 3-month contract with possibility of extension
  • Employee Type: US citizen

Compensation

  • $18-22/hr
