Agricultural Consulting Services is Hiring an Agronomy Services Field Technician - Eastern NY/ Western VT Area Near , NY

Description:

This position requires the candidate to reside in eastern NY or western VT and have the ability to use their residence as their "office" when not in-field.

Agronomy Services Field Technicians bring value to the farms we serve through accurate and efficient field evaluation and data collection. Data collected is used to create nutrient management plans and regulatory compliance plans for farms. Primary duties include crop scouting and soil sample collection.

We have multiple opportunities for level I and II technicians across New York. If you have an interest in this work and meet the minimum qualifications for either position, please apply.

These can be physically demanding and time consuming positions. There will be regular travel throughout the Northeast and mandatory overtime during the growing season. There are regular out of state projects that require working out of state for extended periods of time. All technician work must be performed according to internal Dairy One standards and meet or exceed the requirements of the internal Technician Certification process.

A level I Agronomy Technician will spend most of their time learning procedures, standards and expectations. Crop focus will be single row and basic dairy focus. Most work will be performed under the guidance of a level 2 technician. Regular duties include: collecting compliance and precision agriculture soil samples and manure samples, preparing samples for submission, scouting crops, and reporting data

A level II technician has attained a high level of competency in scouting single row and basic dairy crops, and will begin scouting specialty crops. Level I technician work is performed with little to no guidance. Specialty crop work will be performed under the guidance of a Level 3 technician. A level II technician will begin to provide support to Crop Consultants and Planners through accurate entry of component data in the specialized software used to create nutrient management plans. They will begin to learn the basics of crop consulting and the process of making nutrient and crop management recommendations. Level II technicians will mentor and provide guidance to level I technicians.
