Agricruit is Hiring a Farm Equipment Operator/Laborer Near Newton, IA

Position: Farm Equipment Operator/Laborer

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain custom application equipment such as sprayers, spreaders, and other machinery according to manufacturer specifications and safety guidelines.
  • Apply fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and other agricultural products to crops based on precise prescriptions and instructions provided by agronomists or farm managers.
  • Calibrate equipment to ensure accurate application rates and coverage, making adjustments as needed to account for factors such as wind speed, terrain, and crop conditions.
  • Monitor weather conditions and forecasts to determine optimal times for application, taking into consideration factors such as temperature, humidity, and potential for precipitation.
  • Follow established protocols for handling and storing chemicals, including proper mixing, loading, and disposal procedures to minimize environmental impact and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Maintain detailed records of application activities, including product usage, field conditions, and any issues encountered, to track performance and facilitate reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with agronomists, farmers, and other team members to develop effective treatment plans and address specific crop management challenges or objectives.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on equipment to keep it in good working condition, performing tasks such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn or damaged parts.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay current on industry trends, best practices, and safety standards related to custom application techniques and technologies.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to safety by adhering to company policies and procedures, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and actively identifying and addressing potential hazards in the workplace.

Are You Qualified?

  • Able to work overtime and occasional weekends.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be willing and able to maintain a Class A CDL and appropriate endorsements (with our assistance).
  • Must be willing to submit to a DOT drug test and background.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $66,000.00 per year
