Position Responsibilities: The Screening Specialist's primary responsibility is to review reports of abuse to determine if they meet the EOEA guidelines to be investigated by Protective Services, make calls to collect supportive information, document decisions made, and give direction to Protective Service Workers on their initial investigation steps. The Screening Specialist will answer the Consult line, receiving calls from community members, AgeSpan staff and the Executive Office of Elder Affairs Central Intake Unit regarding reports of potential abuse or neglect. The Screening Specialist will assist with record reviews for internal QA and assist consumers with the meeting of basic urgent needs and advocating for unmet needs. This position has the flexibility of be located at one of our two offices (Lawrence or Danvers, MA).
Essential Functions: (Core duties or tasks that are fundamental and not marginal to the performance of the job)
Qualifications: A Masters or higher degree from an accredited school in social work, psychology, counseling, human development, nursing, sociology, criminal justice, public health, public policy, or gerontology, plus at least one year of experience in counseling, casework, case management, preferably in a Protective Services or crisis intervention role preferred; A Bachelors' degree from an accredited school in social work, psychology, counseling, human development, nursing, sociology, criminal justice, public health, public policy, or gerontology, plus at least two years of experience in counseling, casework or case management providing protective or crisis intervention services may be substituted for Masters; LSW eligibility within 2.5 years of hire required; exceptional negotiation/ problem solving, written/verbal communication skills essential; experience with computers, necessary.
