SUMMARY: Responsible for managing 40 company broiler barns. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee a team of 16-20 people to prepare barns for grow out of chickens, and load out, clean outs, and any changes to placement schedule at farm.
Collect and report data on daily mortality, daily water consumption and feed bin inventories
Order proper feed rations from appropriate feel mill
Schedule feed deliveries
Scheduling of all farm labor
Maintain proper growing conditions in all houses while assuring compliance with all Organic and Certified Human Regulations
Adhere to all biosecurity program regulations
Maintain farm budget
Manage staffing needs in collaboration with HR team
Responsible for overseeing grounds-keeping.
Required to attend all department training sessions
REQUIREMENTS: *Housing provided on the company farm. Must not own, possess, or otherwise maintain any domestic, wild or exotic fowl to be considered.
Proven leadership skills with the ability to innovate, execute and involve the Farm Team with passion
Ability to define problems, collect date, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Computer skills, MS Word, Excel database and email.
Excellent attention to detail and organization skills
Highly motivated self-starter capable of working independently
Willingness to work overtime as required
Able to be on feet throughout entire shift
Ability to operate equipment safely and effectively
Ability to work outside in all kinds of weather and inside a warm, humid environment containing a slight chicken odor
Ability to handle dead birds and perform gross necropsy
Possess valid driver's license.
Education:
Bachelors or Associates Degree in animal science, agriculture or related field preferred
Experience:
A minimum of two years of experience in the agriculture field, preferably poultry and general knowledge of animal science and agriculture preferred
Communication Skills:
Must be able to communicate effectively
Ability to read, analyze and interpret training periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations
Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
Ability to effectively present information and respond to question from groups of manager, clients, customers and the general public.
Physical Requirements / Environment:
Stand/Walking: Continuously (8 or more hours)
Grasp: Continuously (picking up product to cut)
Pull/Push: Occasionally (5-8 lbs of product toward work area)
Lift/Carry: Continuously (2-12 ounces) frequently (up to 20-40 lbs.)
Other Physical Requirements: Bend/Stoop occasionally
Physical Environment: Continuously - Working around moving machinery, working in a cold environment (28-34 degrees F).
