Date Posted: Mar 29, 2024 Purpose: Independently performs diagnostics, service repairs, and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned agricultural and turf equipment. May require some direction or guidance from the Location Service Management team. Responsibilities:
Performs diagnostics and repairs on John Deere agricultural equipment and technology. May perform diagnostics and repairs on competitive equipment.
Performs diagnosis and repair, primarily at the shop, and in the field as required.
Operates and maintains vehicles, tools, and equipment required to perform job responsibilities.
Participates in John Deere University training and dealer-led training to further the development of skills and knowledge.
Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.
Meets the John Deere requirements for an Advanced Service Technician.
Mentors Service Technician Apprentices and Students as requested.
May conduct or support customer clinics.
Maintains condition of vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment.
Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion.
Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments.
Accountable for billable time and assigned work orders.
Responsible for tracking all materials used in performing assigned duties.
Completes all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments in a timely manner.
Other appropriate responsibilities as assigned by manager.
Certificates/Security Clearances/Other Experience, Education, Skills, and Knowledge:
High School Diploma or equivalent experience required, Associates degree preferred.
3 years of experience performing service repairs preferred; demonstrated experience consistently meeting performance metrics preferred.
Ability to perform repairs and maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures with limited re-work or customer dissatisfaction.
Experience with the mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in off-road, construction, lawn, or heavy equipment.
Ability to operate vehicles, tools, and equipment for diagnostic purposes.
Experience with basic computer functions; experience using Service ADVISOR™ or other computer-based diagnostic repair tools preferred.
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
Experience communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
