A BIT ABOUT US
We like plants, people, and beautiful spaces. John Mulhall came to Omaha in 1953 to landscape, and now, three generations later, we're as committed as we've ever been to making Omaha a more beautiful place to live. Today we're a team of a few hundred people, but our focus remains the same: working together to engage our community and share our passion for the beauty of the natural world. And we have fun doing it.
A DAY IN THE LIFE
As the leader of our Greenhouse team and a member of the Garden Home Senior Leadership Team, you'll report to the Head of Mulhalls Garden Home. You'll be accountable to the outcomes of all things related to the Greenhouse, including managing annuals, houseplants, patio tropicals, garden supplies, container design, and payroll and scheduling - all in line with our vision to be the most loved plant shop in the country.
YOUR IMPACT
o Lead and manage a large team, modeling what it means to be a manager in line with our Purpose, Vision, and Core Values
o Model what it means to be an LOD our entire team can depend on through consistent touring, using your tools, and helping solve problems as they arise
o Manage a wide variety of projects including salesfloor and event sets, ad-hoc projects, and daily cleaning checklists using established principles and methods to reach key goals and reinforce daily processes
o Keep the floor fresh - minimizing plant death through First-In-First-Out replenishment and using the annuals, edibles, houseplants, and patio tropical replenishment processes to fill from backstock
o Own the container design department including moss baskets, living arrangements, and porch baskets
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
o 3 years of experience managing a team
o 3 years of experience in retail or a related field
o Strong organizational, time-management, and multi-tasking skills
o A natural leader as comfortable with praise as they are with candid, critical feedback
o The ability to manage multiple, competing priorities with a consistently positive response to pressure
o An uncompromising eye for organization and customer experience
