REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: This position is directly accountable and responsible to the appropriate Assistant Dean and the Dean of Current and Emerging Technologies.

Position Description & Details
Bismarck State College is seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to lead our Agriculture, Technology, and Natural Resources Programs. As the Program Director, you will be at the forefront of fostering student success and driving innovation within our educational pathways. This role is instrumental in upholding the mission, vision, and values of Bismarck State College, ensuring a high-quality educational experience for our students.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Student Advocacy and Retention: Serve as a passionate advocate for students, promoting retention and success through personalized support and guidance.
  • Program Administration: Oversee the administration, management, organization, and supervision of the educational program, ensuring compliance with institutional standards.
  • Quality Improvement: Lead continuous quality review and improvement efforts through Academic Discipline Review, ensuring the program remains current and effective.
  • Academic Oversight: In collaboration with the Assistant Dean, provide academic oversight, including curriculum planning and ongoing program development.
  • Enrollment Planning: Work with the Assistant Dean on long-range enrollment planning, contributing to the strategic growth and sustainability of the program.
  • Student Recruitment and Mentorship: Actively recruit, retain, and mentor students, supporting their academic and career aspirations through personalized engagement.
  • Innovation and Partnerships: Foster involvement with K-12 institutions, advisory committees, Business and Industry Leadership Teams (BILT), and other public-private partnerships.
  • Adjunct Faculty Management: Recruit, orient, and train adjunct faculty, ensuring they are well-equipped to deliver high-quality instruction.
  • Internship Coordination: Coordinate, supervise, and document student field internship education experiences, providing students with valuable hands-on learning opportunities.
  • Teaching Commitment: Teach 14 credits of program coursework per year, maintaining a direct connection with students and the curriculum.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Continuously - 66-100% - Use hands dexterously, talk or hear.
  • Frequently - 34-65% - Operate small equipment, stand, walk, or sit.
  • Occasionally - 1-33% - Reach with hands and arms, stoop/kneel/crouch, crawl, climb or balance, or lift to 50 pounds.
Minimum Requirements
  • Master's degree in Agriculture field of study or a Master's degree with at least 18 graduate credits in Agriculture.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in working with direct and indirect reports (faculty, staff, etc.), as well as administration.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • High-level attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Strong computer software skills (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite-Word, Excel, Teams, etc., Outlook E-mail and Calendar).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with curriculum and course development,
  • Experience in post-secondary teaching
  • Experience with distance/online education, academic assessment, dual credit/early entry, and prior learning.
  • Substantial industry experience of more than five years.
