Ag Jobs is Hiring an Agricultural Research Assistant Near Logan, UT

Overview
We are seeking motivated student or hourly workers to join our team and assist with field research and extension activities. This position offers flexibility and can be structured as an internship, part-time employment, or seasonal work, with potential opportunities for continued involvement during the school year. The hourly rate will be commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities
  • Contribute to Research Projects: Assist in conducting research projects focused on nutrient cycling within cover crop and grazing pasture systems. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the collection of field data, including leachate and soil samples, as well as the maintenance of field plots.
  • Sample Preparation and Laboratory Analyses: Prepare collected samples for laboratory analyses, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established protocols. Conduct laboratory analyses as required, following standard procedures.
  • Field Maintenance and Clean-Up: Maintain cleanliness and organization of field sites and laboratory spaces. Ensure proper storage and disposal of materials and waste in compliance with safety guidelines.
  • Support Extension Activities: Assist in the preparation and execution of extension activities, such as field days and educational workshops. Contribute to the development of educational materials and presentations aimed at disseminating research findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Flexibility in Schedule: Maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate varying project needs and fieldwork requirements. Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and contribute to team efforts as needed.
  • Preferred Agricultural Background: Candidates with a background or interest in agriculture are preferred, although individuals with relevant experience or a willingness to learn will also be considered.

This includes consistently meeting deadlines, maintaining a high standard of work, and demonstrating accountability for their actions. The ability to be counted on to fulfill responsibilities and commitments is essential for success in this position.

Advertised Salary
$15.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.

The environment and physical requirements may change depending on the specific function of the work each department performs. Incumbents may be in both indoor and outdoor environments. Indoors, in an office space, event space, or public space are protected from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes. Incumbents may nearly continuously sit and often use repetitive hand motion (such as typing).
Outdoors, incumbents may not be protected from weather conditions and may be exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold. Additionally, indoor or outdoor work environments may include being confined or in narrow spaces for periods of time. The incumbent may also be exposed to loud noises or vibrations from equipment, and conditions that may affect the respiratory system, such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, and poor ventilation. Bending, crawling, and crouching may be required. Incumbents may be required to lift, push, and/or pull objects up to 50 pounds and be required to walk and/or stand for long periods of time.
