Basketball Coach for Middle School - After School Summer Program

Role Overview

The basketball instructor will be responsible for teaching basketball fundamentals and advanced skills to middle school students. This role involves planning and conducting basketball training sessions, promoting sportsmanship, and supporting the holistic development of each student.

Schedule

• Classes will be held in the morning & afternoon, with specific times and days to be followed.

Key Responsibilities

• Skill Development: Teach and enhance students' basketball skills, including dribbling, shooting, passing, and defensive tactics.
• Training Planning: Develop and implement a training program that is engaging and appropriate for the age and skill level of the students.
• Mentoring and Guidance: Serve as a mentor to students, promoting values like teamwork, respect, and dedication.
• Performance Monitoring: Assess and monitor the progress of students, providing feedback and adjustments to their training as needed.
• Safety Management: Ensure all training sessions are conducted safely, with adherence to sport and school safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Experience in Coaching: Previous experience coaching basketball, particularly at the youth or middle school level.
• Educational Background: Preferably a degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or related fields, with a focus on basketball.
• Communication Skills: Strong ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
• Leadership Qualities: Proven ability to lead and motivate young athletes, fostering a positive and inclusive team environment.
• Adaptability: Flexibility to work in the afternoon schedule and adjust to program needs and changes.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 1 – 2 per week
