Position: Part-Time Summer Program Facilitator

Compensation: $19.00/h

Hours / Dates: Mon - Thu from 12:00 to 4:30pm, July 15 to August 8, 2024, Training July 8 -11, 2024.

Organization Description: The African Community Education (ACE) Program is a non-profit community organization established to address the educational & social needs of African refugee & immigrant populations in Worcester, MA. ACE works by assisting families to achieve educational & social stability by providing access to academic support, community resources & avenues for cultural expression.

Summer Program Description: The program is for students in grades 3-12 and will involve structured activities to enhance reading, science and math learning. Project based learning will be utilized in these classes. The program also provides food, enrichment activities, and field trips.

Job Description: The Summer Program Facilitator will plan and lead classes in reading, science and math. Special emphasis will be placed on project-based learning in these classes.

Duties:

● Plan and implement lessons including reading, science, math activities using movement, music, art, or other creative approaches.

● Facilitate a project-based group.

● Provide a positive learning environment and behavior support to students with diverse needs.

● Work collaboratively with fellow staff and volunteers to ensure an effective program and positive work environment.

● Monitor student behavior during transitions and meal-time.

● Assist with cleanup after the program.

● Participate in program orientation and biweekly team meetings.

● Perform other job-related duties as requested by supervisor.

Qualifications:

● A minimum of 2 years’ experience instructing school-age children in a classroom setting

● Experience creating and implementing creative lessons plans

● Experience working in a multicultural setting

● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

● Willingness to develop holistic understanding of student behavior

● Patience and flexibility

● Excellent reading, comprehension, and writing

● CPR and First aid certification highly desired
