Job Description

SCOPE OF POSITION: This position is responsible for various technical and administrative functions within the Accounting department including Accounts Payable, Purchasing and Travel. It provides internal and external customer service. It responds to inquiries regarding Company policies, procedures and programs related to corporate finance. It also offers a liaison with various vendors and providers. This position may also be called upon to contribute to significant projects with objectives within various operations within the company.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Participate and contribute to projects that have a companywide impact.
  2. Suggest changes and perform updates to company policies and procedures as required.
  3. Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, AFMC policy, contractual obligations, state and federal laws and regulations.
  4. Receive, deposit and match all incoming checks or direct deposits to correct invoices, validate and code to correct accounts and projects.
  5. Receive, review and process travel requests, travel expense vouchers, check requests, purchase orders, invoices, timesheets and other related requests. Ensure accompanying documentation is complete and compliant with financial policies, procedures and contractual requirements.
  6. Enter, code and verify transactions into accounting system.
  7. Maintain files of supporting documentation / logs. Files / logs should be current within five (5) business days.
  8. Reconcile and balance assigned accounts.
  9. Prepare and transmit/disburse direct deposit transactions and/or live checks.
  10. Run and create reports as needed.
  11. Update employee security as needed.
  12. Follow up on account statements and other discrepancies regarding payment of accounts and serve as liaison between departments and vendors in the resolution of administrative problems and inquiries.
  13. Adhere to format, content and style guidelines, giving consideration to usability and ensuring accuracy, consistency, and quality.
  14. Follow AFMC, state and federal protocols regarding data confidentiality/security and HIPAA compliance
  15. Communicate needs and requests to other team members as appropriate.
  16. Additional duties as assigned

  • Intermediate skill level with MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Type 50 wpm.
  • 10 key by touch.
  • Exceptional skills in arithmetic are required.

Job Requirements

Physical and Sensory Requirements (With or Without the Aid of Mechanical Devices):Mobility, reaching, bending, lifting, grasping, ability to read and write, ability to communicate with personnel, ability to remain calm under stress and ability to lift up to 30 pounds. Must be capable of performing the essential functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodations.

EDUCATION:Required: High School Diploma
Desirable: Associate’s degree or additional education in business/accounting highly preferred

EXPERIENCE:Required: Two (2) years experience in accounting, finance, bookkeeping, or cross-functional project management
Desirable: Experience with computer based accounting software

Internet Requirements:Reliable, high-speed wireless internet service (Wi-Fi)
