SCOPE OF POSITION:
Responsible to work with the Senior Vice President of Administrative Services (SVP-AS) to provide leadership, expertise and oversight of contractual operational matters for the organization. The Office of the SVP-AS provides high quality service and leadership by proactively managing and coordinating legal affairs to support and enhance AFMC’s services, mission, core purpose, and core values. Partnering with department heads and SVP-AS, this position will provide preliminary legal review and coordination of legal services with internal customers, outside counsel, and corporate clients. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Guide AFMC in the development of agreements and contracts for AFMC’s services to customers:
a. Lead the production and execution of AFMC-generated contracts and agreements, protecting AFMC’s business, proprietary, and strategic information;
b. Work with internal customers and external clients to develop, implement and manage all aspects of AFMC’s contract services;
c. Review agreement documents initiated by customers and vendors;
d. Evaluate contract vehicles and identify process and language clarifications for contract deliverables – work with operations teams to craft clear, precise deliverables;
e. Negotiate contracts with clients; and
f. Oversee electronic file system for legal documents.
2. Ensure completion of documentation relating to general corporate legal requirements including service mark, trademark, copyright, domestic/foreign registrations to do business in other states.
3. Develop and maintain rapport with customers by continuing contacts; resolving problem situations.
4. Assist and/or contact corporate legal counsel as directed by the SVP-AS.
5. Complete research assignments – Federal and State regulations and statutes, distill with appropriate references and application.
6. Evaluate contract requirements relating to potential business opportunities.
7. Present reports to leadership and stakeholders about contract-related matters.
8. Work with team members to ensure the quality and accuracy of work performed and that staff meet performance goals within designated timeframes.
9. Convey work assignments, track project status, completion dates, and ensure follow-up.
10. From time to time travel to the corporate office for in-person meetings or as otherwise required.
11. Maintain and update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks.
12. Adhere to AFMC Communications guidelines regarding format, content and style guidelines, giving consideration to usability and ensuring accuracy, consistency, and quality.
13. Follow AFMC, state and federal protocols regarding data confidentiality/security and HIPAA compliance.
14. Additional duties as assigned.

Mobility, reaching, bending, lifting, grasping, ability to read and write, ability to communicate with personnel, ability to remain calm under stress and ability to travel as needed. Must be capable of performing the essential job functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field.
Desirable: Master’s Degree
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Five (5) years’ experience as a legal assistant (preferably in a law firm or in a corporate legal department), legal secretary or paralegal. Four (4) years leadership experience.
Desirable: Intermediate experience with Salesforce® and Microsoft SharePoint®.
