Affinity Foot And Ankle in Statesboro, GA is looking for one medical billing specialist to join our 5 person strong team. Do you enjoy figuring out puzzles and solving the “why” of the issue? If so, this may be the position for you! Our ideal candidate is smart and a terrific problem solver. Must be self motivated and able to work alone as well as with the team. This opportunity has the potential for part time or full time employment dependent on the skills of the applicant. A minimum of 5 years experience required.

Responsibilities

Reviews accounts that are aging from a personal queue

• Makes phone calls to insurance companies regarding payment/denial.
• Files appeals/re-considerations for claims that have denied. Contacts patients via phone/mail regarding denied claims.
• Documents accounts for the actions that have occurred during the follow up process.
• Maintains spreadsheets for accounts that are not processing due to payer issues and reports these to management for review.
• Possesses the knowledge and understanding of managed care contracts and reimbursement process. Identifies under/overpayments and processes re-considerations or refunds to payers.

Assists patients with questions regarding account activity.

• Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
• Supports the facility practice in a professional manner.
• Works in a cooperative manner with co-workers especially front desk.
• Completes assigned responsibilities in an appropriate time frame.
• Maintains knowledge of and compliance with policies and procedures, knowledge of basic medical coding, CPT and diagnosis codes.
• Maintains knowledge of insurance agency procedures and practices, governmental legal and regulatory provisions related to collection activities.
• Performs all other duties as assigned. Will be direct back up to Office Manager with potential for long term growth within the practice.

Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
