We are seeking an Intern in Systems Engineering-Reliability, System Safety, and Specialty Engineering for Summer 2024 at our LA location.
Internships will start in approximately May/June and end in August/September.

After orientation and training, interns will perform entry-level engineering tasks on rocket propulsion projects. These positions will support senior engineering staff and gain experience and familiarization with company programs and products.
The intern will work under direct supervision with engineers to provide Reliability, System Safety, and Affordability Engineering expertise for diverse applications. Working under direct supervision and following specific, details instructions and established procedures, job responsibilities will include:
50% - Provide Reliability Engineering analyses on a wide variety of programs and help influence the design. This includes participating in proposal activities as required, helping define the proper level of reliability scope for each program, helping identify associated risks, fully understanding customer requirements and expectations, performing Reliability Engineering as early in the program life cycle as possible, efficiently completing reliability efforts within budget and schedule, and communicating progress and results effectively and efficiently.
30% - Provide System Safety Engineering analyses on a wide variety of programs. This includes participating in proposal activities as required, helping define the proper level of system safety scope for each program, helping identify associated risks, fully understanding customer requirements and expectations, performing System Safety as early in the program life cycle as possible, efficiently completing system efforts within budget and schedule, and communicating progress and results effectively and efficiently.
20% - Meet all delivery requirements by understanding customer requirements, developing robust plans, creating deliverables with first-time through quality, and then meeting delivery commitments despite obstacles and constraints.
Candidate must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering degree program, and be returning to school upon completion of the assignment.
Preferred Qualifications
3.4 GPA or above
Completed Junior year of study
Reliability Engineering coursework and/or experience
Solid academic track record of accomplishment
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Self-starter with the ability to work with little direction
Leadership & teamwork skills
Systems Engineering and/or Rocket Propulsion coursework including test related assignments/projects
Strong skills in thermodynamics, propulsion design/analysis, system engineering
Assists in the derivation, allocation, and documentation of requirements using Model Based Systems Engineering best practices. Documents requirement changes and coordinates the communication of changes to Integrated Product Team members.
Requires U.S. Citizenship or status as a U.S. Person. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
