Summary:

The Engineering Lab Test Technician shall be responsible for performing, supporting, and maintaining development & qualification tests on new and sustaining fuel, hydraulic, coolant, lube/scavenge pump assemblies for use in the Aerospace and Military industry. Testing of products includes preparation, assembly, and disassembly of test articles & test setups, procurement of test hardware & equipment, maintenance/calibration of equipment, and documentation of results. The test technician is expected to work closely with engineering to ensure that development tests and prototype builds are designed to be performed effectively. An understanding of hydraulic test setups, flow circuitry, electrical circuitry, and test equipment is necessary. An understanding of pumps and the aerospace industry is preferred. An understanding of motors, drives, and electrical components are also preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Read, understand and follow mechanical drawings, plumbing schematics, and electrical schematics
• Understand the basic theory of pumps, hydraulics, plumbing, controls and test setups.
• Conducts planning, execution, and documentation of tests such as; preparation of test articles, test planning/set-up, documents results according to internal, customer, and government requirements
• Communicates effectively with Engineering and provides observations, suggestions and recommendations for improved test methods and product improvements
• Designs, builds, troubleshoots and test products using new test setups
• Schedules/Performs internal calibration/maintenance of equipment
• Procurement of required test hardware and equipment
• Performs other related duties as required and may be assigned

Qualifications:

• 7 years of relevant experience
• Experience reading and interpreting assembly drawings, schematics, and other manufacturing documentation
• Understand basic theory of electronic circuitry and electrical controls (motor controls knowledge is a plus)
• Demonstrates proper use of simple hand/machine tools, electronic/manual test equipment and mechanical measuring devices
• Instrumentation: hands on experience configuring hydraulic test setups
• Demonstrates mechanical acumen and familiarity with LabView, NI DAQ, other Digital or Analog DAS
• Ability to troubleshoot test rigs and implement fixes
• Ability to use Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
• Ability to think logically and critically, and to be detail oriented
• Works independently with minimal supervision to meet deadlines

Education:

• HS diploma or equivalent or Tech School Certificate
• Associate degree in related field preferred
