The Alexandria location, which is conveniently located one mile from Alexandria Hospital at the Mark Center, is an outpatient physician and infusion clinic whose team members work closely and expertly with our medical oncologists and advanced practitioners to serve patients with a variety of cancers and hematologic conditions. The clinic is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The clinics are closed for the seven recognized Inova holidays and there are no on-call requirements. Our team members work five 8 hour shifts.An oncology nurse clinician is a professional registered nurse with oncology-specific clinical knowledge who provides safe therapeutic care in holistic and systematic way. He/she facilitates and oversees the care delivery for patients under the direction of the oncology department manager and in collaboration with the physicians, navigating the patient through the care continuum. The oncology nurse clinician is responsible for the care of his/her patients, including (but not limited to), evaluating the patient at each clinic visit; management of symptoms related to the patient s cancer and/or treatment; educating the patient about their disease; assisting with procedures in the clinic; working with other disciplines (e.g. surgical oncology, radiation oncology) and team members (e.g. Intake coordinator, scheduling) to ensure the patient receives the proper diagnostic evaluation and treatment in a timely manner. The duties will include a rotation between phone symptom management/coordination and clinic patient support on an alternating schedule with other nurses in the clinic.Minimum requirements: BSN, BLS, great organizational skills, good verbal communication skillsPreferred: Oncology experience.
