Aegis Chemical Solutions is searching for an experienced, approachable, and highly-analytical Accounts Receivable Specialist for our Corporate office in Houston, located 5 minutes from Bush Intercontinental Airport. As an integral member of our Accounting team, the AR Specialist will be responsible for compiling and maintaining AR records.

Duties of the AR Specialist include, but are not limited to:

• Responsible for cash application of accounts receivable for all bank accounts
  • Initiate various reports: out-of-balance diagnostics, cash receipts journals, etc.
  • Utilize system to problem solve out-of-balance deposits
  • Analyze payments received from customers to identify overpayments, unauthorized discounts, unidentified cash, and omission of remittance advice details. Works with appropriate department and//or customer to resolve discrepancy
  • Maintains application of accounts receivable credits, unidentified cash and write-offs
  • Posts and allocates all inter-company Collection Advices
  • Reports status of unidentified and unapplied cash receipts weekly to Manager
  • Runs customer statements on an as needed basis
  • Responsible daily for all cash receipts lockbox preparation
  • Processes refunds to clients for overpayments
  • Processes all correspondence received from customers on a daily basis
  • Reviews and reconciles assigned accounts on a monthly basis, check and resolve account discrepancies
  • Monitors and corresponds with customers regarding collections
  • Reviews and following up on AR cash receipts
  • Monitors aging of AR accounts
  • Maintains all accounts receivable reports, spreadsheets, and corporate accounts receivable files
  • Assists CFO, Accounting Manager, and other Staff Accountants as necessary
  • Assists in monthly closings
  • Daily AR reporting analysis
• Other duties as assigned

Ideal candidates should have at least 1-3 years Corporate Accounts Receivable experience (with a concentration in AR, cash application, and general accounting where accounting fundamentals are used daily), with above-average proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Navision. A high-level of experience AR reporting analysis is preferred. A related four-year degree is also preferred, but we will consider career experience in lieu of. All candidates must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, as well as excellent problem solving skills, and client service skills, with a high degree of standard towards ethical principles. Those with clear strategic ability and action-oriented individuals, who deliver integrated and long lasting results through matrixed relationships within the organization will be very successful.

This role reports directly to the Corporate Accounting Manager.
