Job Description
AECOM has an immediate opening for an experienced Water Resources Engineer to join our Germantown, MD team! This position can be hybrid. The ideal candidate will work on projects that will involve hydrology and hydraulic modeling for floodplain mapping, along with risk analysis and management.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Assist in the development, application, and QC review of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and analyses related to floodplain management studies and a variety of water resource projects.
Prepare and QC engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids.
Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical.
Provide guidance and training to junior-level team members.
Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
Identifies discrepancies in results.
Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.
Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil engineering or related field, and a minimum of 4 years of experience, with 3 years of working on water resources projects.
Professional engineers license or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
Demonstrated experience in ArcMap/GIS, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS
Due to the nature of projects, U.S. Citizenship or Green Card is required.
Preferred Requirements:
Master’s degree preferred.
6 years of working on water resources projects is preferred
Certified Floodplain Manager with the National Flood Insurance Program.
Team management and project coordination skills
Strong technical writing skills

Offered rate of compensation ([insert state] locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $90000.00 - $120000.00.
