Job Description

The Mechanical Intern will work in a highly collaborative environment on a wide range of projects. The ideal candidate will have a passion for designing building mechanical systems. The Engineer will be responsible for performing the technical calculations and design under the supervision of a senior mechanical engineer.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Performs a variety of assignments and tasks designed to develop professional work knowledge and abilities while working under close supervision.

• Assisting with calculations, drafting, setting up project design plans and documents.

• Provide HVAC and plumbing equipment research support.

• Communicating with vendors and coordinating learning sessions.

Our Buildings Places practice includes architecture, interiors, building and system engineering, urbanism, and planning (inclusive of landscape design), strategy , economics, technology solutions, asset advisory, and cost and program management. This diverse team assists our clients from strategy through project realization, creating positive outcomes for those who occupy and use the buildings and environments we help to create. Our Chicago studio focuses on the Commercial/Corporate, Science and Technology, Higher Education and Federal market sectors. We look to combine beauty, sustainability, resiliency, equity, and innovation in our projects and believe these values can be instilled in any project regardless of size or budget.

Some of our recent projects include tenant build-out spaces, water reclamation office building and lab facility, Joint Public Safety Training Center, Package distribution warehouses, and cutting-edge scientific research facilities.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering.

• Must have completed 1 year of study

Preferred Qualifications:

• Assist in the production of all phases of the design process.

• General knowledge of architectural and engineering drawings.

• Some Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit.

• Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite of programs.

• Well organized and possesses an innovative mindset.

Additional Information

• Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The hourly range for this position is $21.5 to $24/hr
