Job Description

AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Interior Designer to be based in Roanoke, VA .

This position is expected to begin in June 2024.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Initiating and developing design and construction document drawings through completion for assigned projects in conformance with the requirements, applicable codes, and design criteria established by the project’s discipline engineers.

  • Under minimal supervision, develops complex interior design drawings.

  • Exercises sound judgment in assessing problem situations or complex design issues and uses effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions.

  • Reviews discipline supplier documents and other discipline’s supplier documents for accuracy.

  • Performs thorough and accurate material take-offs for the discipline.

  • Prepares designs and drawings using project specifications and discipline-associated written and verbal instructions in accordance with established design practices, standards, and procedures.

  • Reviews completed work with design and drafting personnel responsible for its completion to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes and design data.

  • Understands and assists with the planning and scheduling of design tasks associated with assigned project.

  • Assists in interpreting industry codes, permits, and standards, and ensures design and drawing compliance.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field.

  • Due to the nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.

  • Experience in project construction documentation using Revit.

  • Proficient in SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suites products, or other related graphic software.

  • Knowledge of project design and construction documentation and materials.

  • Ability to work on multiple, fast-paced projects.

  • Ability to follow directions and manage specific tasks to completion.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Portfolio submission required to demonstrate skill set.

Additional Information

  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

  • Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.

  • Exempt Position: Offered rate of compensation (Virginia locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $50,000.00 - $54,000.00.
