Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Entry Level Engineer to be based in Des Moines, IA.

The responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to:

  • Builds analytic and design skills.

  • Transportation Design includes but not limited to: Complete Streets, Highways, Interchanges, Bridges, Box Culverts, Storm and Sanitary Sewers, Detention Basins, Recreational Trails, ADA Sidewalks and Airports (Global and Local).

  • Knowledge or ability to learn Civil3D and MicroStation ORD modeling for transportation projects and conduct engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

  • Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

  • Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

  • Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.

  • Ability to learn ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Online for mapping, data collection and display graphics.

  • Ability to learn and utilize Bluebeam and or Adobe products.

  • Ability to assist in preparing plan sets with Project Managers and design staff on transportation projects and site plans.

  • Knowledge or ability to obtain Iowa DOT inspection certifications.

  • Gain knowledge and become familiar with Iowa DOT, Iowa SUDAS and Aviation specifications and design requirements.

  • Assist with survey in the field, as needed, and development of CAD base maps.

  • Travel opportunities are present but not required. If required for travel location, the ability to acquire passport.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.

  • Must have a Valid U.S. Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • EIT or the ability to acquire in 6 months

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs

  • Experience using AutoCAD and MicroStation

Additional Information

  • Relocation is not available for this position.

  • Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range is $55,030-75,666/annually (exempt).
