Join us. **Job Description** AECOM’s Global Sports practice operates across North America, Europe, Middle East, Australia, and New Zealand Regions. Sports in the Americas led by Dan Meis (Director of Global Sports Design) is seeking a studio leader to be located in the Kansas City, MO office at 2380 McGee Street, Suite 200. AECOM Sports practice is actively seeking an experienced, passionate, leader to serve as our **Director of Collegiate Sports** . This role will lead a team of designers across the geography with staff located from coast to coast to deliver our sports and entertainment projects which will be focused across the North America, Canadian, and South America geographies. As Studio Lead / Design Principal the successful candidate will be involved in the delivery of projects, while supporting and fostering a culture of self-supporting design teams. Working with the team of AECOM’s designers they will help guide and create the style and method of design and construction of the project and their structures. The right person will bring a combination of entrepreneurialism, holistic leadership, and passion for leveraging interdisciplinary capabilities towards making a better world through the communities and cultures supported by integrated sports and entertainment projects. They will be responsible for interfacing with Managing Principals, Operations Leads, Directors and other Business Development staff to provide marketing and sales expertise by continuing to develop and maintain business relationships while working and identifying the client needs to enable the company to “win” the business. Working alongside our marketing department they will work collaboratively on Go/No-Go decisions, for creating proposal responses to RFP/RFQ solicitations and development of the strategic plans for the interviews with the purpose to advance AECOM’s growth and profitability in the Collegiate Sports market. Our Buildings Places Business Line embodies the spirit of a nimble, fully integrated design firm within a fully global infrastructure organization, and as AECOM Sports has key market disciplines operating under architecture and design, cost estimating, sustainability, and economics. Job Summary/Responsibilities: Performs various management, leadership, and people accountability responsibilities for a specific technical group or department. Has full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating technical assignments. Responsible for the growth, profitability, and strategy for AECOM Buildings Places, Kansas City based Sports Practice and its collegiate sector. Provides guidance and coaching to business development, account management and other Kansas City staff. Will require a multi-disciplinary knowledge of architecture while actively engaged in Business Development activities including presentations to current clients and potential clients. Maintains liaison with other Buildings Places units within AECOM’s organization and individuals inside and outside of the organization. Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the field. Works under minimal supervision. Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits. Manages group of designers, coordinating activities of the unit across various time zones and regions. Drives execution of tactical business plans in collaboration with Kansas City’s Senior Leadership group leaders. Represents AECOM as a leader in the Sports architecture industry. Provides industry leadership across the collegiate sports market, as they are recognized as an expert in the market and may be asked to represent the Kansas City office in external associations or forums. Manages and leads multiple client relationships. Provides technical expertise in the Collegiate market sector and to AECOM’s existing business development teams, by suggesting various client’s to approach and possible differentiators that support AECOM’s sport practice. Assist in the conceptualization and development of design ideas, generate diagrams, digital models, presentation materials and provide production work for numerous project types. Assist in collaboratively reviewing and critiquing early phase design concepts as presented by design staff. Assist in the production and development of construction documents (details and drawings) as needed, including the QA/QC reviews. Preparation of design presentations to clients, communities, and other pertinent stakeholders, including public agencies Understand overall project goals and constraints including client values, construction and design budget limitations and schedule requirements. **Qualifications** **Minimum Requirements:** A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Architecture plus eight (8) years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience in a Design Leadership role or **Preferred Qualifications:** Proven record of developing new Buildings and Design for clients in the collegiate and recreation market. Extensive experience in the collegiate athletics market. Ability to develop new business in the market place. Proven success in a senior architectural design leadership position leading project teams in the early design phases. Ability to work on several projects at a time. Outstanding oral communication, written and presentation skills Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Proactive and goal-oriented, with the ability to work independently and effectively manage a group of designers and help them achieve objectives and expend their design skills. **Additional Information** Sponsorship not available for this opportunity Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications.
