Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Design Strategist Intern to be based in our Chicago, Illinois office.

The successful candidate will join our multidisciplinary team of talented management consultants and designers and be responsible for supporting our state-of-the-art consulting projects which encompass world-class corporations, healthcare and cultural institutions, universities, and local and federal governments.

This position is expected to begin in June 2024.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• The candidate will join Strategy , AECOM’s design consulting studio, which operates at the intersection of Business Transformation, Communications Dynamics, and Place Strategies. They will work alongside our multidisciplinary team of talented management consultants and designers and be responsible for supporting our state-of-the-art consulting projects which encompass world-class corporations, healthcare and cultural institutions, universities, and local and federal governments.

• This individual will work alongside consultants in the Strategy team and various AECOM business lines to tackle complex organizational challenges for clients. Depending on the projects, they will be involved in research, data analytics, workshop design, facilitation, and presentation preparation.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university program pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Business, Social Science, Architecture, Engineering, Planning, Design, Urban Technology, Design Innovation, or a related field with the intent to continue after the internship, unless graduating.

• Candidates must have completed three years of study in their program.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Interest in or experience with strategies for sustainability or sustainable design.

• Experience in or familiarity with one or more of the following fields: real estate development, architecture, engineering, planning, graphics, product design, and/or web design.

• Adobe Creative Suite (specifically InDesign).

• Familiarity with equity principles and DEI/JEDI concepts.

• User research, design strategy, and/or space programming experience.

• Design background in architecture, planning, interiors, graphics, product, or web.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.

• User research, design strategy, prototyping, dashboard/interface design, and space programming.

• Data analytics, visualization, and presentation software (i.e. PowerBI, Tableau).

Additional Information

• Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

• This position requires an in-office work schedule. Candidates must be able to work in the office location they have applied to.

• The offered rate of compensation ( Illinois locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The hourly range for this position is $22.00 - $32.00/hr .
