Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Environmental Planner based in Franklin, Tennessee. The successful candidate will work with the Tennessee based planning practice to provide high-quality deliverables and technical planning support services for our Tennessee clients. The candidate must demonstrate the following:
  • Demonstrate familiarity and knowledge of transit planning concepts, including NEPA, transit operation and route planning, and data analysis
  • Develops reports, graphics, and technical memoranda as assigned
  • Interprets and applies applicable government codes, ordinances and regulations
  • Assists with updates and maintenance of Comprehensive Plans, transportation plans, and land development regulations
  • Acts as a liaison between community groups, government agencies, developers, and elected officials in developing neighborhood plans
  • Conducts review of various plans, regulations, development applications, including comprehensive plans, permits, site plans, and technical studies
  • Conducts extensive research in specific or general project areas
  • Writes and presents formal and technical reports, working papers, and correspondence
  • Identifies community problems, issues, and opportunities in particular neighborhoods that could be mitigated through better community planning
  • Develops long-range plans for communities with common developmental issues
  • Develops strategies to promote economic and community development, or efficient land use consistent with community goals
  • Evaluates the adequacy of community facilities in meeting current and projected needs
  • Recommends priorities, schedules, and funding sources to implement public improvement plans such as transportation plans and transits development plans
Qualifications
Minimum:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning, Urban Studies, Environmental Planning or related field
  • 2 years of experience in transportation planning, including the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), economic development, rural planning, and transit planning
Preferred:
  • Master's degree in Urban Planning or related field
  • Experience and knowledge of transit planning concepts and methods
  • Experienced working with multi-disciplinary teams and independently
  • Experienced and competent in Geographic Information Systems software (GIS), including ArcInfo
  • Experienced in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint, as well as Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experienced and knowledge of ArcView GIS, InDesign, and other technical programs used to analyze data and inform decision-making.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $50,000.00 - $80,000.00.
