Job Description

This position will be a core member of our client's Operations delivery team and will work collaboratively with other business leaders to support the needs of their clients on local, regional, and national projects. In this role, the Practice Leader will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing our client's market profile and position as it relates to their area of expertise. They will also oversee and direct project teams throughout the complete life cycle of projects, beginning in the pursuit phase. The Practice Leader – Transportation Infrastructure will leverage their technical skills, industry and market knowledge, and client and partner relationships to win and deliver projects to grow their area of discipline. They will contribute to the community of practice for the discipline, fostering knowledge transfer, staff development, and recruiting and retention of team members.

Responsibilities
  • Project Pursuit and Delivery:
    • Identify, pursue, and win transportation infrastructure pursuits.
    • Lead technical approach development and delivery for projects, managing a team of engineering practitioners from pursuit to project completion.
    • Establish project objectives and procedures, overseeing proposals, planning studies, designs, and construction services.
  • Market Positioning:
    • Develop, maintain, and enhance our client's market position with their clients, approval agencies, and industry professionals as an outstanding service provider.
    • Cultivate relationships with clients and industry professionals
  • Networking and Talent Acquisition:
    • Grow internal and external networks and identify additional talent to join our client's team.
    • Actively participate in the recruitment of high-caliber engineers.
  • Leadership and Mentorship:
    • Provide mentoring and training for junior engineering staff.
    • Lead technical approach development and delivery for projects and manage a team of engineering practitioners across multiple offices.
    • Establish project objectives and procedures, and lead teams on proposals, planning studies, designs, and construction services for engineering projects.
  • Business Acumen:
    • Possess good business awareness and acumen and maintain a deep understanding of project management fundamentals: project scope, cost, and schedule.
    • Have a clear understanding of current and future market and business conditions, revenue and profit potential, and major clients and competitors within New England.
    • Participate in conferences, and seminars, and represent our client in social, community, and business situations.
Capabilities & Credentials
  • Excellent communication skills in verbal, business writing, electronic communications, and presentations.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to understand project and team roles, scheduling, budgeting, and efficient resource utilization.
  • Entrepreneurial nature and ability to lead others to achieve group results.
  • Strong knowledge in the area of your expertise, systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
  • Familiarity with state and federal regulations, and the ability to adapt to client-specific requirements.
  • Ability to interpret sketches, engineering drawings, and other similar materials.
  • Ability to concurrently lead several project teams or tasks with a sound understanding of overall goals, objectives, and costs to our clients.
  • Possess strong problem-solving skills and ability to lead and make timely decisions.
  • Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness.
  • Strong mentoring and leadership skills, and desire to encourage and coach junior staff.
  • Basic experience with Microsoft Office products, and experience with AutoCAD Civil3D, on projects.
Education & Experience
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university is required.
  • Licensure: Professional Engineer license required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 15 years of experience.
  • Experience working on municipal, state, and federal contracts.
