Land Surveyor - Bismarck, Minot, or Dickinson, ND

AE2S seeks a motivated and driven team member to join our Land Survey team. The successful candidate will work on a survey crew to provide surveying services in support of internal projects and directly for clients with potential for advancement to crew chief.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field surveys for boundaries, topography, GIS data collection, geodetic control, etc.
  • Provide construction staking for site layout, structures, grading, paving, roadways, drainage features, etc.
  • Prepare plats, maps, and record drawings
  • Assemble field data, perform survey calculations, and prepare legal descriptions

Basic Requirements

  • Degree in surveying or a related field
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Basic knowledge of survey equipment such as GPS, Total Station, and Automatic level
  • Knowledgeable in the effective practices, methods, and techniques of land surveying
  • Knowledge of state-specific standards of practice in Land Surveying
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Land Surveyor in Training certified or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Willingness to travel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Internship experience in land surveying

Physical

  • Ability to walk up to 10 miles on uneven terrain
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, with rare lifting of up to 75 pounds
  • Perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs as well as moving the whole body such as running, maneuvering, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials
  • Drive and navigate vehicles or mechanized equipment including but not limited to all-terrain vehicles or water craft
  • Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects
  • Use hands and arms to handle, install, position, and manipulate or move materials
  • Service, repair, calibrate, regulate, fine-tune, or test machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily based on electrical or electronic principles
  • May be required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to, flame resistant clothing, hard hat, and protective footwear
  • May require occasional evenings and weekends with overtime expectations varying with workload
  • May be required to travel to off-site locations including occasional overnight stays out of town
